Speaker question

i have a set of optimus T-200 speakers the 4 10'' woofers (2/speaker) are fried the foam around them has detoriated. im debating on weather to ditch thse speakers and buy new ones or just replace the woofers.

i have a few options to replace woorfers
1. search ebay and find them (ive seen them before not currently up though)
2. buy replacements at radioshack for 32$ a peice (newer versions)
3. find some antique electronics store that sells them

what do u think i should do

being the engineer that i am, i would say buy some new ones and install them yourself, always fun to learn something new and play with new things. also you can go crazy and get some really nice speakers and install them taht would be pretty sweet.

i worked at Radioshack and i would not recommend those speakers they really arent very good just go buy new ones and instal them yourself

realy, my dad who gave them to me used to be a manager of radioshack for a while, he says these are very good speakers, they were 250$ back in like 1979 i believe which was a lot for that time.

im gonna see the cost of replacing the woofers, the other 2 speakers in it are fine and actually sound realy good. if the cost of replacing the 4 woofers is more than the cost of a new speaker of equal or better quality i will just get the new speakers

they dont sell these speakers anymore there are from like 1980 i beleive you might be thinking of other speakers or they might of remade these.

Are you trying to salvage them cause they are antiques?

If you are trying to listen to something, go buy a new set.

speakers were actually a much better qaulity back than i have read tons of articles on speakers and how these compare to top of the line speakers out today.


im gonna use them as they are now if i see a better pair of speakers on sale i will buy them. i relized new woofers wouldnt sounds as good. because of the tuning (time delay) will distort the sound

Im going to pretend like that makes since. Wait no I am not. Maybe subwoofer boxes where better quality, but speakers have upped in quality.
