Since music links/talk seem to be the new "videos" in Off Topic, I wanted to post and try to get some unbiased opinons on a freinds band. It's only one song but gives an idea of their sound/style.
This one is in pretty raw form and definitely not professionally engineered but still good enough to get an idea of what they are doing. They are releasing an "indie" album soon so if you guys are interested I will see if he will let me post some more.
Here is the link

Feel free to post comments (both good and bad) since that is what I was curious about. I personally think they are doing great but am probably too biased lol.
And please post if you dl it so I can keep a quick count on bandwidth lol. Stupid freeservers offer shock oops

the song, i like the song, althought it does sound somewhat monotonous, tell your friend to get closer to the mic or sing a tad louder.

[quotec6c7dc62e7="CollidgeGraduit"]"I" before "E", except after "C" ;)[/quotec6c7dc62e7]lol, yeah I am bad about that. Usually just too lazy to proof read though since most people can get past minor spelling and grammar errors on message boards lol.
Hasek, thanks for the input, I will pass it on ).

The sound just had a bit of a hollow feel to me... the microphone doesn't sound great, but I like the keyboard
Not too shabby )

I downloaded it and I'm not really feeling it. The vocals really got on my nerves and the drum machine/keyboard sounds cheesy. They could also use a 7 minute guitar solo.

it doesnt really suck. i mean, if i was just sitting around on the computer wasted i probably wouldnt change it but it does need improvement. the guys voice is a bit annoying. he just sounds like hes whining like that stupid singer from staind. they could use some other instruments besides a keyboard and drums (from what i could here). it should be a bit more upbeat... even for indie. whenever i was listening to it i felt like i was in [i7a9c67abc2]Labyrinth[/i7a9c67abc2] with david bowie, but on painkillers. but i dunnno, it seems like they are getting there, but could use some improvements.

yeah I agree tracemhunter. There are only 3 members in the band so that may explain some of the "missing instrument" feel.
I personally think he (the singer) has a little bit of a hard time with the high notes so it makes it hard for him to stay in key...but it might just be because it isn't "professionally" recorded and engineered and may sound better if it was.
and yeah, it does have a labyrinth feel to it. When I hear his stuff I alway get the feeling he/they are going for the coldplay type thing...or at least that is kind of what it reminds me of lol.
Thanks for the replies and opinions guys...at least the on topic ones ;).
