I need a new digital camera, but I don't want to do freedigitalcameras a) 10 referals 2) hard to get referals

I saw ones on get#friends, but are those good? I mean 4 referals seems easy enough for me. I don't need anything fancy (ie professional shots (TSJ, Compfreak level)), just to take quality pictures with. Any suggestions?

If you want quality pictures go with

Panasonic, Nikon, Canon, Sony

Wont steer you wrong. 3.2Megapixels and higher is technically sufficent

Always always always before you buy something research it enough so you know the basis of what is quality, and what is not. You will be suprised at what you learn from a week of good research on a certain type of product. You almost always are dettered from your original choice to another better one, that is sometimes even cheaper. At least I am.

Good guality 5mp camaras are pretty cheap these days. I suggest the Canon A95 or SD400

Make sure you get above 5mp, no matter what anyone says becuase otherwise they look like crap if you want to print 'em

I agree with Stroid and Peincone, i have the A95 and i have no problems with it..very good camera. Only problem is i seem to use up battries quickly with it when i do use it..i think it might be my batteries so dont hold me to it

OK, list to me, I've done research. I own a Canon Powershot S2 and Canon SD300, and I can tell ya, you can NOT go wrong with Canon. There's no better choice. On the other hand, do NOT go with Sony, Fuji or Casio. The pictures on Sony and Casio turn out very fucked up, something is always wrong with the colors, and it's impossible to correct. Fuji has totally crap menus and speed. CANON!

Go with a company that works AROUND photography..Sony does it all, just like Intel..and they suck..thats why AMD is king same with Canon or Nikon

My friend who works at the Intel campus as a manager in a certain division buys AMD chips, explain that.

Not true, Sony did impliment Carl Zeiss lens, which are some of the most expensive/best lenses around. Canon is good, i'd have to agree

That is correct, 3.2 megapixel is good enough for typical 4x6 or 5x7. Unless your going to be blowing it up to 8x11s you really dont need anything more. I mean i can blow mine up to 30x40 but do i? not really

Ive got the Sony DSCP200 and they actually corrected all the mess ups with the colors. The camera is very nice and VERY fast from power on time to snap a picture. The size of the camera is small enough to put in a larger pants pocket and its movie capability is limited by your memory stick size and can do unlimited 640 x 480 (tv quality) video. Ive been nothing but happy with the 7.2mp camera & my 1Gig memory stick.

Just my 2 cents.
