I am having a problem with my computer. I can't get it to turn on. When I hit the power button it just makes some nasty noise come out of the speakers and the power button will turn yellow as if it was about to start up but won't turn green and turn on. Anyways I don't know that much about comps so anyone who has more knowledge then me and could give me some ideas I would really appreciate it.

Unplugg the power from the back of the computer and wait a minute or so then plug it back in and try again..if that doesnt work you might want to get your hands dirty and remove the power cable from computer supply, wait another minute, and then try it

take the case off. And see if the fan over the processor is spinning correctly... otherwise I'd assume you're looking at a bad hard drive.

no the fan isn't spinning what does that mean? I had checked that earlier but had just figured it wasn't spinning because the damn thing wasn't powering up...

when you hit the power button does it start to spin at all? i didn't see that the nasty noise was coming out of the speaker... is it the onboard speaker or your external speakers?

I don't know let me go check...and its the external speakers.

nope it doesn't move at all, however I did notice that when its completely powered down, but still connected to the outlet their is a high pitched humming sound comming from the internal system that I hadn't noticed before.

Sounds like a bad hard drive...thats generally the only hardware that makes a grinding/thumping noise. Though, the high pitched humming sound is odd, it could be something with the power supply but in that case I don't think the lights would illuminate at all.

Do you have another computer that you can test the powersupply on? If you do, take the PS from the working computer and just plug it into the motherboard and see if that makes your motherboard start up correctly (fan will spin)
FON... the sound he was talking about was coming out of the speakers and not the computer itself... i thought the same thing as you at first.

the modifcations that were made should be redone using the SYStec settings of installation.

Im guessing its a power supply. Try unplugging the hard drive and pressing the power, at the very least your screen should display something. But if it dosent it means something else is wrong. Im guessing PSU.

If the system won't power up and no fans turn on it's most likely your power supply, but if it does turn on but doesn't boot to your operating system(windows) and you hear clicking noises it's probably your hard drive. Maybe your power supply is set to the wrong voltage, try moving the tiny little switch on the back right next to where the power cord comes out, if that doesn't do anything make sure you put it back to where it was before you moved it. It's hard to tell you without seeing the actual computer..

Now i am having a similiar problem. My new computer was working great, then is just died. Now when i press power, the lights and fans com on, but nothing else. The power light on the case does not turn on, nor does it even start to boot. I am pretty sure it is a problem with the motherboard. I alredy opened it up and rechecked every connection. Could this also be caused by a bad power supply? It is an Enermax 420W.

I actually took out the PSU and put in another one i had, only to find it didn't have the right size plug for my motherboard. So i put back my current one. And still nothing.

Could have been a fried mobo, or PSU. It is not HDD because w/o HDDs you still see shit on the screen, you can even run a computer with out a HDD with live linux, and other OSs.

I brought my PSU to Microcenter, where i bought it, and they tested it and it works fine. So has to be something with the motherboard. It is an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and only a month and a half old (
Gonna call Asus tommorow.

Well most PSUs that people buy are insufficent and quite frankly blow. You should have at least a 460w PSU with 24a on the 12v, at least. I recommend the 85$ Enermax 535w dual 12v 34a. It is the cheapest best PSU that can handle dual GTX SLi. Give your system the clean power it needs D.
