Alright all my music is tagged in iTunes and is pretty well to my liking. I just got a new lappy with XPMedia Center and try to load my music into windows media center. Why is the way media player reads music info so different from the way iTunes reads it? In media center my music is a MESS - nothing is even close to correct. I thought they both read ID3 tags!?

Does ANYONE have any tips on how to reconcile the two? I won't budge on my iTunes as i plan on keeping my ipod managed. is there any way to change the media center info without effing up my itunes?

this is very frustrating and I'd appreciate anyone's help.

Hmm, I think they both read ID3 tags. I use Winamp, and that reads ID3 tags for sure. Windows media player is a pretty shitty player, and I have never used media center OS.

itunes uses its own piece of shit called iTunesDB to keep track of track metadata (eg. artist, title, etc). You're going to have to find a program that will merge itunesdb data back into the id3 tags.

Or you can right click the songs in itunes and click convert to ID3 tags, I think that should work.

alright i'm going to try that.

I didn't know itunes used a different data format. . .prettyurl==http://=http:///url stupid and it doesn't make my life any easier right now trying to migrate to this laptop. I really wish OSX ran AutoCAD and other engineering programs - I wouldn't touch XP with a 10 foot pole.

I'll update after this finishes.
