I'd seriously want to check one of those out. CNN had an article on that too, but those are being given to underprivledged schools in Africa or something. They said they weren't going to be sold to the public. The computers are nothing different from regular ones except without large data storage.

wtf can cambodians contribute to the internet anyways?....they dont have movie theatres, so i cant get opening day movies from them. And they cant afford software so i cant get any games or soft. from them. BAH...useless.

1) They haven't spelled out how on earth it is possible to make a sub $100 laptop... Just removing the HD isn't going to make them that cheap... especially when you are throwing in the hand crank technology.
2) Mr Black... students can get an ass load of cheap computers in the US. There is no reason for a hand crank computer to be marketed or sold to American students. Also... the ones giving out the computers are the governments. They are buying them and distributing them for free. So if you think the South African government should buy you a computer... write a fucking letter.
3) If they can pull this off... it'd be awesome.
