It's minor... It's blip on sony's radar. Do you think someone is going to walk into a store and go "Well... I could come in and buy the $xxx.xx PS3 I've been wanting... OR... I could spend $49.99-$59.99 on Halo 3..." I really don't think it will make a difference to sony sales. People who want a PS3 aren't going to look at one xbox 360 game and jump ship.

actually i have decided to sell the xbox360 premium i reserved and paid off. i realized that i do not play consoles very much and would rather spend that money on more ram, watercooling, and a new case.

Uhm ... you could probably go and look at www.bungie.net and find out that
1) There is no official confirmation of Halo 3
2) There is no official release date.
3) There is no reason to believe Bill Gates.
He's Bill Gates, people ... it's rather silly to think that the head of the company can put a release date upon a game that doesn't exist.
Plenty of other 'heads of microsoft' came out and mitigated Gates' statement, a fair bit (even the head of Bungie, mind you.)

Yeah xbox sold like shit in japan the only thing that really pisses me off about xbox is taht they offer all the cool cases to japan to get them to buy it but for the people that do buy it we get a black xbox wtf. they have clear black, clear, clear blue, white they have all the good ones. (

I thought this was old news? I've heard since E3 Microsoft saying Halo 3 will be out the same time as the PS3. They aren't trying to take sales away, they are just trying to steal some of Sony's press and hype.
There will be great PS2 nerd vs. XBOX nerd fights at midnight of the release day...

Exactly. If its easy to go pickup right away people figure its not that cool. Microsoft wants the 360 to be the hard to get, hot gift for Christmas. The one moms are getting into fist fights for on local TV. The PSP was well stocked everywhere and people were talking about how it didn't sell well...

Microsoft will not create a false hype, there will be plenty of xboxs launch date.

No way is Halo 3 coming out even in 2006. I'm thinking summer or fall of 2007, and they'll show it at E3. Halo 2 took what, 3+ years to make? Now they cut the cycle down to 1.5 years? I'd rather wait for a bigger, better game, halo 2's single player was kind of disappointing.

Halo 2 overall was a bad game for the competive people, its to even. Halo 1 can own someone all day and it takes skill, halo 2 it STILL takes skill but the playground is alittle more even and thats never good for competive play.

Halo 2's single player [i5d2508204e][b5d2508204e]was[/b5d2508204e][/i5d2508204e] disappointing. I felt so constricted compared to the first one. The maps on H2 were long paths. On Halo 1 there were huge open explorable maps.

You need to stop talking. I have a BA in Business Economics and I worked in the video game industry (wholesale side). Sony did slow production to build up some hype again. I bet by Christmas time 360s will be hard as hell to find. I might keep mine in a box and wait until a week before Christmas to sell. I sold a 20GB iPod on eBay 2 weeks before Christmas for $325...

First of all Alan it does make sense, it's either buy a sony for XXX.XX or buy Xbox 360 with halo 2 for XXX.XX. The average consumer isnt going to run and buy a system at launch day camping in some damn line for 2 days likes a star wars tickey. They will buy the system with the game they want to play, and most likely not both when its looking to cost them 1000 plus before games and accesories.
Secondly I agree on the sell the xbox at Christmas time thats all I plan on doing with mine. I'll buy one if I want it 9 months later when a good game comes out and that price drops $100 or so. I'd rather have 100-200 dollars than an xbox 360 with no good games for 1 year.
Finnally what games come out when they are supposed to? Perfect Dark was released for gamecube 4 years ago, the microsoft every year thereafter. Then you have every zelda, halo, and rare game...nothing comes out on time. So why even listen to the hype before one screenshot or annoucement has been made?
expect the game to coincide with the movie which is still being shopped around, much less in preproduction.

Im a freshmen in college, so no not yet. But im going for a Masters in Computer Science from University of Texas, so I will hopefully have one soon D.
Not that noone does business, it is just that EVERYONE who cant make up there mind gets a degree in business. There is very few people that get a degree in it from the get go. You have a corporation setup by any chance?

i think a business economics degree would be a lot better than a art degree or something. i know so many people with comp sci degrees that cant get jobs. everyone is going for comp sci now so i bet in a few years the jobs associated will be a bit saturated.
