It's kind of funny. I'm in an internet class and we are making our first websites. We had to pick a character and make a profile for him so I just went with the evil monkey from family guy.
The funny part is how most of these sites look all 80's and stuff(if the public internet was even around back then). I'm trying to make mine look as non oldish as I can but I don't know how to do HTML too well.
I just thought it was kind of funny how some people in my class can have that kind of a web page and live with it. I'm not saying that my website thing is so much better than theirs.... And I'm not trying to put down my class mates but um... They seem like a free geocities site. But what should I expect... We're learning. So far I like making web sites and stuff.
That'd be hilarious if I made a bunch of nice photoshop and flash stuff and hosted it somewhere then used it while I was at school.
But anyway,

Not bad for your first try. And for future reference the first personal webpages began showing up around 93-94ish. But they were all on Geocities or AOL because it cost 100s to buy a domain and host it. I wish I could find all my first webpages but they are all long gone. I had a great Nirvana one... and later on a South Park one.
Anyone remember dial in BBS's? Those were the shit.

I dont care about the content, but why is everything in tables? Tables are evil.
Also, I still have my first site. I went through the trouble of mirroring it for permanent posterity a few weeks ago.
I was 11 and "coding" on a 486/100mhz with 16mb ram and a 14.4 modem on geocities.

I like simple sites, but most sites are not built with just HTML. There is many languages behind them, PHP is a common view site. There are things like Perl but I think that is a more of a behind the scenes language (I dont make websites \). But HTML is easy, it is just internet lingo that you pick up if you spend a lot of time on the net. Dont really need a class to teach you html D.
At 11 I made a geocities site with there site builder, and some HTML. It was my dogs pictures I think at first and jokes. And then it turned into Final Fantasy 7 fan site with strategy guides and everything. I really cant remeber what came first, FF7 or my dogs. I had a guestboard too D.
I believe it was on 56k 486, or maybe a 386. It could have been 14.4, but I dont think so. My dad programmed on the Commodore 128, and was keeping up with technology because of that experience. We had DSL when it first hit the markets, actually before we where suppose to because we where so far away from the RT.

Fuck wordpad, notepad is for the pros. Real online programmers dont use WYSIWYG editors, notepad for the win.
They should teach programming classes by typing it in notepad and sending it to the compiler via command line.
