Need ideas for a present for my girlfriend

My girlfriend and I's 1 year anniversary is coming up and I want to get her a gift or two. I know I'm getting her some chocolate, I'll probably make her a CD of sappy love songs, take her out to dinner, write her a love note, and all that jazz, but I want to get her something else she'd really like.

Any ideas here? I'm open to any.

Sounds like overkill. It'd be much funnier just to forget it, but have an obviously preplanned surprised to show her when she starts freaking out.

I like when people get me gifts to show that they remember something. Like one time I told someone that I loved York Peppermint Patties and they remembered and got me a whole bunch of them as a gift. Stuff like that, that makes you go "Aww... you remembered"

How about a vat of bacon grease and a nipple clamp? That oughta get her in the mood XD

On a slightly more realistic note, I think Retro's got it nailed (A GIRL ON THE INTERWEBS?) - try to find a more personal present, something special

For my one year I bought tickets to Josh Groban and rented a limo from Rochester to Syracuse... Which prolly wasn't a good idea because I'm comin up on my 3 year and it's gonna be tough to out due that one other than gettin her a ring... and that sure as hell aint happenin.

Don't get a ring unless it is "the ring".

She always says "aww look they have a promise ring" I guess she will like a promise ring since we've been together for a long time

27-09-2005 22:14:47

Promise ring huh, dumbest idea ever. If your girlfriend wants a promise ring you don't need to be promising her anything.

on a serious note, try www.tiffanys.com for all your jewelry needs.
overpriced? very.

stick to the sterling silver. i know just about every girl in the world owns the signature tag bracelets.
they eat this stuff up.

yeah man don't go with a ring unless it's really the "ring" when it comes to jewlery don't buy anything expensive cause if you're only 17 the chances of you guys staying together are slim and you would have waited your money. I'm not trying to discourage. I'm just speaking from experience!

Though it really depends on the guy/girl. For some 17 isnt unidealistic, though for others it probably is. It really depends on how they perceive relationship and how much they value it. Though i would agree, for the typical 17 year old its not indeal to be getting "rings" for your gf. A tad earily

I got my girlfriend a ring when she was 17. I made sure she knew that it wasn't a promise ring or anything. I think those are stupid. Get her something original. Last year, for christmas, I adopted a penguin at the zoo for a year, and then we went a few nights before christmas when they had lights up and only the penguin exhibit open. She was putty.

Well part of my point is he's gonna be kicking himself if he's spending hundreds of dollars on a girl he's not gonna end up spending the rest of his life with.... Heck that money could be spend buying referals for the new plasma TV or the new color Ipod you need. wink

slease

28-09-2005 04:27:22

Thats true, if she breaks up with you there is no rule that says a promise ring should be given back. So you're out money.

jadem

28-09-2005 04:35:20

You can always do something that you and her both enjoy together. Or, you can try to replicate your first date. The penguin idea is good too. Overall, I think Retro hit it on the head.

Btw, promise rings are nice for the girls to receive, but awkward for the guys to give. In high school (from two different guys) I got two promise rings. They're both meaningless now. Unless you KNOW you're going to be with her, I wouldn't suggest it.

Good luck.

Are you serious? I mean come on....promise rings are the stupidest thing ever...."i promise......WHAT!?" to love you ? You need a ring for that? I just gave my g/f a ring but we've been going out for 5 years now and are ready for marriage. Thats when you give a ring. Think flowers..dinner (like you said) ..... 1 year... not that big of a deal if you ask me...well not so much of a "deal" but wait till you hit more than a year...than you'll be like wOw. So sometimes girls just want simple things that mean more. Like said before something that reminds them that you listen to them and show interest in them. Chocolate...corny. All girls love flowers...get the flowers and some other good stuff....jewerly....wait till you've been going out longer.

Only my two cents..

If you are really cheap/poor make some giftcertificates up for mushy crap.

[1 free foot rub] [1 free back rub] [1 free evening of me not begging you to give it up to me in the back yard on an inflatable pool toy so no one sees us or hears us]

Or... Since rings are played out, you could go with a nice pair of earings or a regular necklace (no pearls). Flowers are very good. half to dozen roses are always good but you might want to check some local flower shop and looking at different arrangements.

As for me, I have to do some ring shopping... [i5c2fe93e7d]THAT[/i5c2fe93e7d] ring shopping.

For my now husband's and I one year anniversary, we did not have much money at the time. So he snuck into my apartment and arranged the most romantic dinner ever - cleaned the living room spotless, decorated it to the T, and cooked (from scratch) a delicious Italian dinner served on a candlelight, rose filled table for two. It was perfect )

Being romantic is over rated. My theory is to never be romantic and then one day just surprise them on an unexpected day. If they EXPECT romance then it's not as appreciated...

I always find it funny that the guy has to think everything up. The girl should spoil the guy for having to listen to your nagging stories for the past year...

Don't be friends with anyone that is romantic or else yours will want the same.

last year on my girlfriend and I's 1 year anniversary I got her a ring, I think i spent about 100-125 on it. This year for our 2nd anniversary I got her a necklace, think that one cost 75-80$. She really liked them both.

There seems to be some confusion as to what a promise ring is. Straight out of the slease dictionary

Promise Ring noun, from the latin dumbus assve, (1) A ring given from one person to another to indicate that one day they will propose marriage but are not going to do it right now.

The Top 10 reasons why a handgun is better than a woman

#10 - You can trade an old .44 for two new .22s.

#9 - You can keep one handgun at home and have another for
when you're on the road.

#8 - If you admire a friend's handgun, and tell him so, he
will probably let you try it out a few times.

#7 - Your primary handgun doesn't mind if you have a
backup.

#6 - Your handgun will stay with you even if you're out of
ammo.

#5 - A handgun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.

#4 - Handguns function normally every day of the month.

#3 - A handgun doesn't ask "Do these new grips make me look
fat?"

#2 - A handgun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after you
use it.

#1
AND THE NUMBER ONE WAY THAT A HANDGUN IS BETTER THAN A
WOMAN . . . You can buy a silencer for a handgun.
