You do not have to host your site with Yahoo. Buy your domain here and host your website elsewhere. They allow you to change DNS settings (A, CNAME & MX records) and nameservers. Don't bother with domain forwarding as it redirects with a framed banner. Also, do not transfer your existing domain to Yahoo since this is for new registrations.
