I wiped my computer and I used to have winmx but now when I try to get winmx it doesn't work on any site.

So I'm getting limewire. I'm kind of scared to use it though for some reason. I want to download music and all and I don't want to be fined. Is it safe to use without... umm.... gettting caught?

For extra assurance use a program like PeerGuardian or ProtoWall.

irc is a chat program that people use for warez. some other sites to check are www.mp3nfo.org and www.nforce.nl . newsgroups work as well but they cost money.

Thats when being a Canadian is a good thing. We can download music for free and its 100% legal. 8)

Well its not really 100% legal, See the program it self is 100% legal to use. judge said that it is legal to use p2p but they are still sueing people downloading music in canada too. Its really grey up there with p2p un like down here but you still can get sued

mIRC is just [i451f5b5030]one[/i451f5b5030] program to use IRC, very popular, but with many flaws ;)
There are much better clients out there for Win/Linux

XDCC is NOT the way to go, FTP is NOT the way to go. P2P is DEFINATELY NOT the way to go. XDCC blows because unless you are a member in the channel you have to wait in queues and they usually only have 0day shit. FTP is not the way to go UNLESS you know friends that can give you axx. FTP takes a lot of time to get because you have to work, and working blows. 0sec FTPs are the best for 0sec stuff, and some even have 2teras +, but you wont get EVERYTHING. P2P just blows in general, shitty reencodes with errors in the music. Just horable.

If you want music I suggest a PRIVATE BT site, like http//oink.me.uk that requires you to upload the amount you download. They only have APPS and Music. For everything else (HDTV, XVID, ISOs, PSP, VCD, SVCD, XVCD, CVD, XSVCD, DVD, DVD9 (hehe...)) use newsgroups. Use newshosting, and here is a ref link for alt.binaries.hdtv if you are going to use it. http//www.newshosting.com/?a=14241 . Newshosting is the best Usenet hoster, and it costs 15$ a month. Also get a newzbin.com account for 50c a week.

i use usenetserver.com hosting because i bought a 3 month package but i will go to newshosting next batch i think. newsgroups are good for dvdrs and pc games. i sitll prefer ftps for mp3s though.

They actually dont give a shit about people with 10,000 mp3s, or even if you have 1 terabyte of them. That is for the feds to worry about, and they have not since operation bucaneer (http//www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/ob/OBMain.htm) that I know of. They go for the small man on p2p, noone with 10,000 mp3s will be on P2P networks. They catch there scare victims off p2p, they think it will stop the p2p trading. And it has raised fears, obviously because of this post. RIAA and MPAA are the #1 employer of retarded people everywhere, and it shows. At least that is what it was like a year or two ago when I researched this ).
