I am a liberal airhead according to this scale. Although, the scale is very heavily biased towards the right and very skewed against intellectualism.

Not to start any debate, but the scale is very unfairly balanced and probably written by someone who is very American and conservative.

I have heard some people say that the American economy is effectively socialist because of the sheer amount of money that is being pumped into it by the government. There may be a bit of free market (as much as you can ever REALLY get) left in there somewhere but without the ridiculous amount of federal spending that is going on, the economy would fall flat on its face.

This is an opinion piece I read a few months ago that got me thinking a little.

I still think we could stand to be a little bit more socialized. I'd love to see a federal healthcare system that would put the EU's to shame =) And we're spending far too little on our education system... which should also be federalized. I don't like the education system to fall victim to balanced budget state spending. Every child should have a textbook.

Instead of giving mass amounts of money to scumbags like Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Lockheed Martin and all of those other exploitative defense contractors, we could give the money to public schools, medicine and other social services that help the PEOPLE.

There is no such thing as balanced budget state spending. 8 trillion in debt. 600 billion current account deficit.

Doesn't sound fiscally responsible to me.
