I'll probably be ready to submit for approval on flatscreens.freepay.com by next week or so. Initially, I was pretty psyched to be getting a new TV. But then I realized it isn't HD. My roommate's HDTV is freakin' ridiculous, and he got it for about $900.

Here's my question has anybody tried to sell any of the items from flatscreens.freepay.com? I'm thinking I'd rather just hold out for an HDTV now. Can I ship directly to the winner of an auction? If not, is it even worth it?

Its not going to be cheap to ship one of those TVs.

Yeah, I read somewhere on the forum that the LCD screens are worth more on ebay or whatever anyways.

Jake, that's what I thought.

So I guess it would make the most sense to order an LCD...

I decided just to take the 27" Sony. Seems to get great reviews, and hey, I don't need HD yet. Once I own a condo, I can start fretting about things like that--and by then, the prices will have dropped.

For now, I'm stickin to Freepay.

BTW, Jake, can you guys do a site for grad school tuition?

Go into the biomedical sciences and not only will your tuition be covered, they pay you as well (PhD only, not Masters).

I'm afraid that my nearly 3 years in business makes such a big transition unlikely at this point. But you're right--I have friends who are loving life right now...biochemists and whatnot. Full ride plus a stipend. Yikes.

Next TV I buy will be HDTV or bust. I cant believe the quality differance, and the ease of getting HDTV content has gotten tons better within the year! I want to make a full HTPC, HDTV, and 5.1 surround sound system for like 4000$, have 1 tera raid on the HTPC ).

True, the difference is unreal. I just can't figure out a simple and feasible way to get one right now. My money is better directed elsewhere.

Man I wish Freepay did an HDTV site though...

The gifts on there now are

LG 19" LCD Montior
Panasonic 27" TV/DVD combination
Samsung 17" LCD Monitor w/ Built-in TV Tuner
Sony 27" Television
Viewsonic 19" LCD Monitor w/ Built-in Speakers

So you think the Samsung is the best choice if I plan to sell? It actually looked like the Viewsonic had fared better on eBay...closer to $250 or so.

hehehhehe

20-09-2005 13:45:54

The viewsonic is selling for $430 on amazon, and in the high $300s on ebay. However, the only ones actually sold on ebay went for between $250 and $300 (as you saw)... Maybe the samsung would sell better, more appeal because of the tv tuner? It's a toss up.

Even if I did get $250 for it, I'd have to subtract shipping. So I'll have to go through the hassle of shipping the thing, and I might only get $200 to apply towards an HDTV. The cheapest ones I've seen are $800+, which means I'm still gonna have to fork over $600.

So I think I'd rather spend $0 more to get a decent 27" TV (that I don't have to ship anywhere) than $600 for an HDTV.

I've got at least until the end of the week (5g/3y), so I'll do some more research. I'll let you guys know what I decide though.

No, you add shipping on. You can charge $50 on top for shipping and still get full interest.

Argh! Every time I think I have it figured out, I have second thoughts.

I guess if I sell it, pocket $250, then ask for a little help for X-mas, I could probably end up with a relatively cheap set for $300-$400...
