I just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone had experience with running the nightly builds on iPodLinux on a 20 Gig Photo iPod. I'm almost done freeipods.com and I'm debating the choice between a new nano or a 20 Gig iPod. Recently I read about iPodLinux and I was very interested with the development of an ogg vorbis player and being able to play videos.

The current implementation of the video player plays only uncompressed video with no sound but it sounds promising. Sounds like the 4G iPods might finally have enough processing power to be able to handle video and audio together.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had a chance to play with some of the nightly builds on a 4G. How is the stability? How is the playing of mp3 and ogg? Any insight on the video playing support is coming along?

Thanks for you input guys!

I would never buy any of UMD movies, they are ridiculously priced and very limited in support...why would I buy a movie on UMD when I can get the same movie at the same price or even cheaper on DVD that can be played on any DVD player...and a decent sized memory stick for the PSP would be a very large cost added to an already overly expensive device which in my opinion is not very portable at all...

I just figure that the iPod has such a nice colour screen why not use it for something more than the menu and the one or two games that come with it. Playing video would not be my primary use for the iPod, but it would be nice to have...
