i guess thats their plan for making the controller work with all past nintendo games. . .turnurl==http://=http:///url it sideways and its basically an NES controller.

beautiful, back to basics. This makes perfect sense, they are going to be rereleasing all of the original NES games for the revolution and it's going to be sidescrolling bliss. I might have to get me one of these as long as they don't charge more than $10 to download games.
ps, turn it counter clockwise and guess what... it's an NES controller
edit ENGRdawg beat me to it.

it would be kinda cool playing a sword game and making slashing motions witht he controller. A two player fighting game where two people next to each other waving the controller violently sounds VERY gay though (
I think you can hold it on the side like a nes controller or uprite for remote or something.

Read the rest of the thread before you repeat what has been said twice.

If I want to swing my arms around to play a game, I can play EYETOY.

I'm so pumped for this! It is so innovative and intuitive. If they pull this off (I hope they do!), I will be their official fan girl forever.

Does anyone else agree they took a cue from Apple on this? Hot.

Looking cool and being functional are two completely different things. How in the world is this suppose to give more control in a FPS than something like an Xbox or PS2 controller?
To tell you the truth, I am much more impressed with the Eyetoy 2 over this.

Its nintendo man. Its not about the FPS, its about the platformers. The bumping things with your head. It looks tight, I like what ninetndo is going for. The we dont give a shit about system specs, we make uber games watch us pwn.

This is a quote from the ign article. The way it senses movement in the controller it self is awesome. Too bad Nintendo can never get any goo third party developers.
[quoteb03ecce555]Demo 8 First Person Shooting
So, we lied -- not all of the demonstrations were completely crude graphics. For the final demo, the one that most represented how a game might feel with the Revolution controller, Nintendo displayed what was apparently a test by the team at Retro Studios for what they could do with Metroid Prime 3. They stressed it was just a test, quickly thrown together in just a few weeks. For this, the analog control stick peripheral was used. We held it in our left hand to control the forwards, backwards, and side-strafing motions, as well as having access to triggers in back for scanning; meanwhile, the right hand used the main Revolution remote control to behave just like a mouse on a personal computer. It was a very natural application and felt pretty smooth, but since it wasn't a polished game it did feel a bit awkward at times, making us wonder what kind of things a developer could do to calibrate these kinds of controls for users. Nonetheless, the potential is huge for the FPS genre.[/quoteb03ecce555]
