Besides not having and terms and conditions, I'd say your auction is fine. You've just gotten two bad buyers - that tends to happen with trendy electronics.

Bad tip. I make a lot more money (over retail in many cases) by shipping internationally. You just gotta do it right and there are no problems.

Bad tip? Give me a break.
Have you ever tried to ship a hot new electronic item internationally when you have a low feedback score?

9 times out of 10 you get someone either trying to scam you or doesn't know what the hell they are doing (in regards to sending payment).
He's already stated that this is the THIRD time he has listed the auction.
At this point, I think it's safe to say he is ready to get rid of the damn thing.

Sorry, but the extra couple bucks really isn't worth the hassle.
Unless you aren't in a rush to get rid of the item and dont mind relisting it a few times. Or if getting negative feedback isn't really a major concern.

Why don't you link us to your ebay name? Something tells me I'm not going to be impressed. roll

I was selling some gold pumps on craigslist. Who the hell sends heels to their son? And I don't understand why they were just trying to scam me out of $35 I thought they only try to pull that stuff with high priced items.

You get way too defensive and hostile, way too easily.

Here's a true situation I've had on ebay, which explains my opinion on international shipping perfectly

I had 2 brand new Sharp Zaurus SL-6000L (this was back in Dec04). I listed them both with a starting bid of $399, Buy it now at $449 offering shipping only to the US. One of the PDAs sold at $399. So I relisted the unsold PDA with the same starting price, but a buy it now price of $470 and I offered international shipping. The next day someone from the UK who was on vacation in Canada bought it for $470. I shipped it to the hostel he was staying in and had no problems. This is when I started always offering intl shipping and [b1648fa2ade]especially[/b1648fa2ade] on hot new electronics. $70 is more than "a couple bucks" and really is worth the "hassle" of writing "Canada" on the package and filling out a simple customs form.

I always list s&h costs for US, then tell intl bidders to email me for costs to their area. My auctions typically end for more than those shipping only to the US and I never have any hassle.

That's just me though...

Oh and you asked for my ebay name. It's OddityExchange. I'm not a powerseller and I don't expect (nor care) for you to be impressed - I just sell a few things a month that I come across. I have 100% feedback. Here's one of my previous auctions[=http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=97930&item=5779647024]Here's one of my previous auctions that ebay hasn't whiped yet that shows how I handle intl bidders. Guess where I got the ipod shuffle ;)

[quote23867771b4="kevxross"]You get way too defensive and hostile, way too easily.[/quote23867771b4]
It's not getting defensive, it's getting annoyed.
I'm sure you think writting "bad tip" followed by a single sentence is good advice, but if you want to actually help out the OP, maybe you should explain yourself further.
What's more, you didn't really consider his situation. Someone who is not extremely familiar with ebay might just take what you are saying as fact and follow blindly. You should apply it to his current situation if you want to make it worthwhile...

Let me break it down for you.

Shoe is new on ebay. With only 6 feedbacks, its obvious he is still learning the ins-and-outs. Because of this, he might not understand the full implications of shipping worldwide.
"What implications?"

For starters, much like FON mentioned earlier, customs might not approve of what you are shipping and simply not deliver the item. I had this happen on two different shipments to Italy (horrible, HORRIBLE customs).

Secondly, tracking is not available for all destinations. And when it is available it can cost anywhere from $15 to $50. On top of that, it doesn't always work the way you would have hoped.
For example, I purchased tracking on a shipment to Spain, but for whatever reason, it didn't "work". The post office had no idea where the package went, and I had just about given up hope and assumed it was either floating in the Atlantic or that it was delivered and the buyer was lying to me in hopes that I would refund his money (either voluntarily or forcibly through paypal's craptastic "no tracking, no protection" policy).

Regarding your wonderful experiences with international shipping, you have to take into account that you have 98 feedbacks at 100%. Not exactly an "easy target" in most scammers eyes.
Shoe on the other hand has just 6 feedbacks, probably generating a lot more interest from the people who think they can get away with sending fake money orders and what not.

I'm not disagreeing that Int'l shipping doesn't have its benefits, I'm just pointing out that there is a time and a place to offer the option.
With 6 feedback and already two failed auction attempts for the item, I think it's safe to say Shoe should probably keep it nice and simple for this auction.

But that's just me...

Basically, they tell you they are interested and will be sending you a USPS money order.
Usually the next day you will get an email that claims it is from the USPS and that they have your money order and will ship it to you as soon as they have confirmation you have shipped out your package.

It's beyond me how anyone ever falls for these scams. The "official" emails are always from a free email service such as hotmail or something equally ridiculous.
What's even more obvious is the grammer and spelling on these spoofed email addresses. Usually its around the level of a 6th grader.

I recently listed a few dell laser printers on craigslist, and the scam emails started rolling in.
I actually took someone's advice (i think it was chex) and played along with them.
Sure enough they sent me the fake usps money order email followed by a pre-paid fedex label which I was to put on the package and arrange a pickup from my residence.

I was planning on sending him a 90 lb box of rocks (i doubt 90lbs to africa is cheap), but unfortunatly I had to sign off on the contents of the box, and since the slip was already pre-filled with "dell printer" i didnt want to violate customs and lie.

Oh well.

I get lots of letters from people who are trying to scam when i list stuff on ebay as well. I got a letter from some douche saying that he will payme via bidpay when i ship the item to him lol Its so easy to detect ebay scams its almost hard to feel sorry for the people who fall for them.

Lunarpancake

15-09-2005 11:57:59

The scam is 99% most likely a fake money order. Since its from overseas they have different authentication's. The bank WILL cash the money order, but will also soon notify you that you need to pay them back.

Saw a whole tv program about it a few months ago......the way they said it was happening on the show was that these africans were finding lonely women from the US, and having them cash the check and sending them like 75% ofthe money. The women think its fine since the bank cashes it....and they are happy since they get to keep some money. ....Untill the banks law firm contacts them.

Some who aren't so internet savy may not be able to tell the email is fake.

Also they try to get you by mailing you a fake money order that clears at your bank at first and then later after you've sent the item your bank tells you it was fake. What I don't understand is how your bank can let it clear in the first place and then later they find out it's not good.

Edit What lunarpancake said

And yes, the bad grammar is a dead giveaway.
