I use iTunes and just bought the new Switchfoot cd. After putting it in the cd drive it asks if I agree to an anti-piracy agreement and to download the software that will enable me to copy the cd to my comp. So I said yes. But when I upload, however, WMA and Winamp are the only options for playable formats. So I select Winamp but it still uploads as WMA files ? And now when I try and add the folder to the iTunes library, it says the files cannot be converted to MP3 because of copyrights on the files. GAH! I just want to listen to my legally bought cd ?

Find a converter?

Convert it to a WAV. Once you have it there you can do anything you want to it.

all my music is either mp3 or m4a or something weird itunes format i dont even use itunes anymore i dont like it. musicmatch is better and i dont have an ipod so i dont see itunes. my shuffle never gets used.

i had a program i forget the name which allows u to convert from wma (windows media file) to mp3 or wat ever u want. i deleted it though because it would makie the files huge like each file would be 11mb when it was supposed to be like 5mb. im still searching for a better converter i will keep u updated.

can u burn it to a cd using another program. if so burn it to a cd than using musicmatch u can copy it to ur computer into mp3's im sure itunes can do the same thing

Well, I just tried the converter program and it failed - all of the files are proteced by "DRM" - Digital Rights Management -/

I use Jhymn to convert my itunes copywrited songs to unprotected format. Maybe it can strip the DRM out of WAV too.

i had this problem to i used something called tunebite the only problem is it records in really time and you gotta disable all other sounds like aim and gmail and stuff. Cause if a im goes of it records it with the song..but yeah it worked good.

I think that method lowers quality.

That's a bitch, i'm surprised it even gives you DRM'd wmas.

Just use this torrent link http//www.mininova.org/get/89182

This better not become a common thing, or I'm really never buying another cd again.

You can try this, though it is not guaranteed to work with newer DRM protected content.

Dude, you can't convert DRM, there is no crack for DRM10 (the post above is a working crack for DRM9, which is not in use any more).

You'll have to buy the Muvaudio software (www.muvaudio.com) which is the current fastest, most high-quality way to convert DRM protected music.

why not just burn the WMA files back to a cd and then rip the WMA files off the cd to MP3?

and im glad i read this cuz i was getting ready to go buy the cd today...

What it does is the program records whatever it hears is playing it doesnt look at the protection on the cd it just records whats coming of the soundcard (if that makes sense). This will work.

There is a crack for DRM10, but a Windows Media Player update will allow the player to detect the debugger and refuse to play the file.

You would be better off just downloading the whole album (since you did buy it), via irc, bittorrent, etc.

I suggest buying the album at the ITMS for use with your iPod.

I'd just find a torrent but you know since you actually bought a CD you might want to go the extra distance.

/\ Thanks man I appreciate it, I do have cable but did not really feel like figuring that whole dl out.

So my friend tells me I can get the mp3s through a version of Musicmatch Jukebox (like 8.2?) that she had, she sent me the software. I installed and tried to rip straight from the cd. Didn't work. So then I burned the music files from the cd to the comp, and from the comp to a blank cd. Holding my breath, I then reinserted the blanks cd and.... YAY iTunes recognized it. I synced with my iPod and was off driving. However while playing it in the car I noticed something odd.... THE FREAKING ID TAGS OF THE SONGS WERE NOW MESSED UP! All of the song titles were mismatched. Jeez I am about to throw this cd out the window -/
