I'd like to turn an extra computer box of mine into a webserver. Anyone have any suggestions (which linix runs a webserver best, etc)

I use slackware at home for a bunch of server related activities.
You can see a couple things
http//www.derheim.org
It also runs an irc bouncer and glftpd, as well as mail services and an eggdrop bot. It's pretty surprising how useful even a slow box can be.

Go to www.redhat.com
Find the Fedora OS that suits you.
Apache is already there.
Install PHP.
Install mySQL.
kthx.
