When the new ipods are released, will the price of the old ones go down and how much do you think it will be. Especially the iPod Mini's, I want to get one for my bday but I don't want to spend more than $150 and I dont want a shuffle.

They usually go down 50ish. I'm guessing when the color minis come out, they will stop selling the old minis though, as they cost more to produce.

I would expect so. Maybe even lower!

I don't think thats true, I think they'll put an 8gb drive in the old minis and keep selling them at 250 with a color screen, then the flash ones will be around the 200 price range.

The thing is, they stopped selling the regular iPods when the iPod photo came out, not only because the new ones are cheaper to make and nicer to have, but because the old ones being cheaper than the new ones would be the hardest on them, seeing as they're more expensive to make. If that makes any sense /

?

The iPod photo was out a long time before they discontinued the black and white ipods.

Big flash memory chips are not cheap, and microdrives aren't that expensive.

Here's a quote from engadget... I now think they will get rid of the microdrive players.

We didn’t really think they were going to do it, but it looks like perhaps Apple took Samsung up on their offer after all (or someone, anyway). Later this month we can apparently expect Apple to debut 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB flash iPod minis, which will only be 75-80% of their current size. Apparently the screen’s also going color too, but will shrink about 0.2-inches from its current size—prices should remain steady, but the 8 gigger could cost $299.
