My ipod from Trainn is gonna arrive anytime next week, and I'm wondering what would be a protective case for it.

Right now I'm debating between the iSkin or the skins from Decal Gal.

Are Decal Girl Skins any good? They look sexy.

I like the podshield. Thats what I have for my ipod. Keeps the slimness and look of the ipod yet does a good job protecting it. Its a film that just covers the ipod.

The stuff from decalgirl is pretty nice, but I think a silicone case is better for protecting the ipod. They'll dampen shocks, which is important considering that ipods are hard drives. I've got silicone ipod cases called Skin Tight from a company called speck, which are good quality. You can buy three packs for $30 in many stores like Compusa, circuit city, etc...

Wow, I checked it out, it looks pretty good.

But damn, there's no CompUsa In Canada. And Our Circuit City sucks. It's just Radio Shak with a new name.

yea, i'd suggest lajo too. very good quality skins, for a cheap price. when it was on sale, i got mine for 5 bucks, plus 6 shipping. i think the sale might still be on. check www.lajo.biz.

I'm getting an iPod sock. All of the other cases make the iPod look ugly or bulky. I didn't want an iPod so I could go ahead and cover it up.

Speck skins are thinner, and more flimsy, than Lajo skins.

Vaja cases don't fully protect the iPod. There's too much exposed.

It's funny....the reasons you give for not wanting the others, are the main reasons for hating the sock. )

By far the best case is the iSkin/Lajo skin, and the Lajo one is at most 1/3 the price of the iSkin. I'd also recommend getting a leather case that will fit a skinned iPod if you want the extra bump protection the Vaja cases offer.

Something like this...

I actually like the sock too, it's just there to protect it when you aren't fiddling with it.

That's not true at all. The iPod sock provides easy access to the iPod, and it's main goal is to protect the iPod when in a bag or pocket. When you want to use it, you merely take it out of the slim case and admire it's sexiness. D

Tholek

29-08-2005 15:31:07

Taking it out of the case in order to use it is the deal killer for me, and many others.

Any case that makes you do it, makes you add wear and tear to the iPod, by friction, and debris that will easily get in the sock.

The Lajo skin, and I do specifically mean the Lajo eXo2 versions, have clickwheel protection integrated into the design, allowing exposure only for the ports/jacks.

It's qute simply the best protection of any case out there.

iSkin comes in second, by selling clickwheel covers for its skins.

As far as sexiness goes, who really likes that sterile hospital white? D

I have about 5 or 6 skins, and I plan to get more when more of the elaborate designs come out in the eXo2fb series.

Tholek, what about for 60gb photo ipods? I see a Lajo they don't have a big selection and they dont have any pictures. Just wondering if you know.

They [b50b241b96c]do[/b50b241b96c] have pictures, you just have to click the little magnifying glass next to the color you want to see a popup image of it.

And some styles are in 40GB/60GB as they're supposedly stretchable to accomodate. If you have a photo though, get a photo skin, they're supposedly a little bigger.

[quote50b241b96c="Strike"]Is leather any good?[/quote50b241b96c]

Vaja leather gives excellent bump protection on the areas it covers, but it doesn't cover everything, so I always go for the most scratch protecting coverage. (imo the exo2fb)

If you can get a leather case that an ipod in a skin will fit into, you are set. )

i got a crystal clear case on ebay, it's nice-looking hard plastic, lets you use the click wheel with it still on, and fully protects the screen without taking away from the visual ... doesn't protect much against droppage, but it's the best for scratch protection whilst lookin good

Tholek

30-08-2005 07:37:24

Hard cases can scratch though, plus they leave the clickwheel unprotected.

emailjwr

30-08-2005 10:35:02

well that's the point, it has full functionality so you never have to take it off, so you don't get any scratches ... i'm fine with the exposed click wheel too, so i can use it all the time

I'm thinking about getting a Lajo case.

They offer a 50% Discount right away.

Which Lajo case should I get? And what is branding?

Yeah, but you don't thave to have it exposed to use it. That's what I like. )

Up to you, but I like a flat back (no intergrated belt clip, or "nub" for one), I like ckickwheel protection, and I want the thickest silicone.

For me, that's makes it the eXo2fb, which comes in many colors. For elaborate artsy ones, you have to look at the styles that don't cover the clickwheel, or have a flip bottom (for the dock).

Take a look here

http//www.lajo.biz/Xskn/features/4g_ipod.asp (All the prices are half now to the end of the month, [bd972f437fc][ud972f437fc]which is today or tomorrow[/ud972f437fc][/bd972f437fc]) shock

Pick the style, and you'll see the colors and designs it comes in, but not all styles have all colors and designs.

Branding was something Lajo offered to companies, you can't get it yourself.
