Shrooms
What are shrooms? The term "shrooms" is a short form of "mushrooms". Mushrooms as we see and pick are a fleshy fruiting body of a fungus.
The fungus is a general term used to denote a class of organisams including mushrooms, yeasts, and molds.
Fungi, which once were classified as plants, have since been reclassified as immobile organisms that lack chlorophyll. Mycologists (scientists working with fungi) estimate that there are 100,000 species of fungi.
From those 100,000 species of fungy only a few dozens produce the chemicals psilocybin and psilocin, which are responsible for the hallucinogenic effect of shrooms.
Most common species of shrooms that are seeked upon for their hallucinogenic effects are Psilocybe cubensis, a subtropical shroom species that is easy to cultivate, Psilocybe semilanceata, Psilocybe cyanescens and several other species of shrooms.
