Celeron D is prescott based. Im not sure about the old one, but the old one might have been Northwood based. Though im not a fan of prescott myself.
PS In regards to your question i think its probably the catche L1/L2 and maybe FSB.

Buy from Dell before you buy from ebay. That's a great deal and as long as the computer is just for day to day stuff and not high processing tasks you won't have any probs. You can't build a computer for cheaper than that deal.
Someone recommended emachines, are they even still around? I thought they were bought out by gateway and incorporated in gateway lines a few months ago.

dell pc's cost too much... at least compared to what you can get for the same price on ebay... instead of buying a day2day stuff pc you might as well invest a little more and get yourself a machine that won't get super old in like 3 months...
