i read an article about an artist (the drawing kind) who was publishing their art online for free, but then eventually as they became more popular, they had to upgrade their servers and shit to cope with the demand. then they couldnt afford it because they were doing it all out of their own pocket.

i think it was calculated that if everyone who regularly visited their site, were charged $0.25 each a month, he would make about $7,000 a month, which he could then use to not only pay for his servers, and hosting and everything, but he could actually give up his shitty day job and do the drawing for a living.

the only problem with paypal though (at least my account) is that when someone pays me, it takes out a fee, so if i had a site, and charged everyone $0.25 a month through paypal, i would end up probably having to owe paypal a shitload of money.

hopefully googlewallet comes out soon.

google wallet is going to be googles version of paypal, but probably without the fees D

i will definitely use google wallet then. i hate paypal fees. and people wonder why people charge so much for shipping. i do it to cover the damn paypal fees on an auction.

The reason paypal has to charge a fee like that even for small transactions is because the credit card companies charge them everytime they do a credit card transaction. It's the same reason some stores still don't accept credit cards and others have a minimum 10.00(or w/e) purchase before you can use your CC.

There is no way google wallet would survive if it didn't charge fees even on small transactions. What could be done is to charge a smaller fee if the amount comes from your paypal balance and not a fund transfer.
