Nikon D50 or Rebel 300D?

So i narrowed it down to these two. My family keep telling me to go with the Nikon. Though im wondering does anyone else have their opinions on this matter. I heard decent things about the Rebel though i havent heard much about the Nikon D50.

Classic argument and no-one will ever be right.

I've done tons of research and still prefer the 300D.

well the Nikon equivelant to the 300D is the Nikon D70, and the D70 is better than the D50.

Theres also the advantage of the 300D over the D50, that the 300D has CF memory (as does the the D70).

the D50 and D70 look better than the 300D, they have instant on, where as the 300D is about 2-second on time. The D70 has a higher ISO rating than both.

I cant really comment on what the D70 or D50 is like though since i have never used one of them.
