Wow what a dork.

Playing straight games for over 48 hours and then dying of a heart attack.

What a dork...

hehehhehe

10-08-2005 12:35:38

It doesn't matter if it's fox or not. It's an AP story on a whole bunch of news sites. I found it sad, yet hilarious.

Here's the same story on cnet (like it matters)

These gosh darn youngin's and their video games. Back when I was a kid me and my granpappy used to skip rocks down at the waterin' hole for hours. None of this technological nonsense...

hehehhehe

10-08-2005 13:30:16

He was 28 lol.

I've played GTASA for about 50-60 hours since June I think. I couldn't play anything for longer than 3-4 hours at a time (which is still a lot to me).

J4320

10-08-2005 14:38:02

He got fired from his job because he was always late due to video games. What a loser. He needed to get his priorities straight.

Way to lump the populations of an entire continent into one category. They all speak the same language too, right? The actual reason a lot of Japanese people are into videogames is that Japanese society doesn't look down upon free time like they do in America. If you decide to take a break and play a game or drink some tea, you are an unmotivated loser. People who work 12 hour days and weekends are admired in America because it shows that they are determined to make it. Confucianism also plays a role because it embraces the use of technology and change rather than looking at it with fear, like many religions practiced in the west.

Of course they all speak the same language! They all look identical!

I'm kidding but really. I never said that they WERE ALL into gaming. I said most of them are which is true. Mostly places like Japan or Korea though.

Do you have any thing to support that besides your perceptions?

"2. Seventy-five percent of American heads of households play computer and video games. "

Can one say that most Americans are nerds now?

In the US there is a gaming channel caalled g4tv, and I don't know if it was on the same channel but there was some kind of televised gaming tournament. What goddamn nerds we are!

I should have said a lot. But it doesn't matter. I don't know why it's being taken so seriously.

russia is worst than china i think. like 75% of teens are addicted to videogames and dont eat/sleep for hours. its is becoming like our "obesity epidemic", if you will.

i dont understand how some of you can sit there and say hes an idiot or hes a dork or he deserved it.

it may have been his own fault but what did he do that was so bad to human kind that he deserved to die?

its another human being who just died! how would you like it if 1 of your family members made a "stupid" decision and they died, then you read people all over the internet saying how they deserved it?

maybe you should think before you move your little fingers next time.

tracemhunter

10-08-2005 21:55:34

they arent saying he deserved it theysayjump, but he did have it coming. just like the squirrel who stops in the middle of the road and my tire runs across his tiny little head. the squirrel didnt deserve it, but it knew the risks and had it coming.

theysayjump

10-08-2005 21:58:03

im not saying it was a well thought out plan that had no flaws, im just saying that someone dies like this, and people say he deserves it and shit.......like i said, you wouldnt like to read people saying that about one of your family members, so why would you say it about someone elses?

not you specifically, but people in general.

tracemhunter

10-08-2005 22:00:55

yea understandable. you have to take into consideration that americans have become numb in a sense. we see that people die everyday on the news. people just get used to it and could care less until something happens to them. that is why i only check cnn and reuters. i refuse to watch local news.

theysayjump

10-08-2005 22:16:43

yeah its called desensitisation.

i used to work in a hospital and part of my job was to move people who had just died to the morgue......at 1st it was really fucked up, but the more you do something, the less it affects you.

I give anyone who could do a job like that alot of credit.. I know I couldnt handle something like that.

the hardest part i think was having to go and collect the body when the family were still there.

Was this in Scotland? I know some other cultures are much more comfortable with death than others.

theysayjump

10-08-2005 22:34:55

yeah it was in Scotland.........I'd say we are comfortable with death over there, we know its gonna happen so we dont really waste time to try and find some live forever cream or fountain of youth or whatever.

its not a taboo subject or anything like that.

hehehhehe

10-08-2005 23:06:55

I know what you mean TSJ (that's why I said it was sad too), but if a family member of mine was hooked like that I'd kick his ass or get him counseling.

The guy wasn't taking care of himself. If I saw someone smoking their lungs out (like I used to) or eating like an asshole and they die early because of it, they had it coming. However, I agree it's not nice to say "he deserved it" though.

well-put man ... if this guy had lost his job and had a heart-attack and lived, then i'd find it hilarious ... but the man is dead now, and anyone who knew him will never see him again, i can't laugh at that
