Two-A-Days are hard

Just got done with my first day of two-a-day practices.
8-3.
Not easy. At all.
But the varsity coaches did say that I was hardworking.
Definitely a lot harder than last years two-a-days with the new coach and all.

I did cross country in 6th grade and it was way too hard so i never did it again. it sucks running long distance in 100 degree weather.

I love running. It's very refreshing and I get "runner's high."
I do both track and cross country.

Why do cross country runners wear short-shorts?

I do track, but cross country is just too much work.

I'm a lazy ass. The only sport I liked playing was football but I was always told that I couldn't because 1) I was a girl and 2) because I'm really tiny (5'2", and I was really skinny at that time).
Now I just sit in an office chair all day. Man, I really need to start exercising. Maybe I will after work tonight...or not...(

I play football.
Sorry, I thought most of you knew that.
It must have been another forum where I posted football stories.

My school doesn't give us too short of shorts thankfully. They go down to your kneecaps.

Well the longer ones are for practice and they don't chaffe. And at meet we had uniform shorts and those were a little smaller but they didn't look too bad.

I'm running cross country for the first time this year. Official training starts on the 18th, but I've been running 2.5 miles every other day along with weights. Anyone have any pointers for CC?

Yeah, to be really good you have to run so much. We have a pretty good cross country at our school. There's some kids that run several miles almost every day year round.

I run about 4 miles every day. But lately I've been getting lazy because I don't like going out when it's so hot so I wait until night and then I forget about it or get too tired to do it. (

Find a hill, and run it every day. Intervals (run 3 minutes, sprint 30 seconds....experiment!!!) can also be very helpful for working on the fast-twitch (adding some speed to your stride). I didn't run XC (why are you fools saying CC?), but I ran Varsity Indoor Track and Track & Field from 9th grade on. Then I played football freshman year of college...but got lazy and quit before coming into minicamp soph. year. I might go back, though.

Weren't you a track coach or something? I thought I remembered you telling me that a long time back.

Sprint team captain in high school. The athletic department at my college tried to get me to coach the track "team" (at this point it is still considered a club by the college), but I declined because 1) Of the some-odd-number of runners, there were 2 athletes that could actually be competitive in collegiate competition (myself, and a girl who ran for my high school's rival); and 2) No one but me and the aforementioned female showed any dedication, so why should I?

Likely talking about football, but I also remember a week before senior year of high school (when my team was picked to win/place at the state CC meet) of 3-a-days including the worst workout of which I was ever a part (including any college CC practice, or marathon training run).
We had run really poorly as a team in a warm-up meet, and Coach was pissed. We started running 800's on the freshly laid black track in late August at 1pm in the blazing sun. After the first 6, (@235 pace) someone asked how many we were doing (which was the worst thing you could ask him). We ran another two before he answered - he told us that for every person slower than 235, we'd run an extra 800. We ended up running 17 800's that day. A lot of guys just laid down in the gym until the evening practice - no one had the energy to drive home. It sucked serious ass.
