cellphones....i'm sick of mine

i have T-Mobile, and i'm relatively satisfied with it, but i keep getting complaints from people who call me. they say they keep getting a "circuits are busy" message and my calls dont go through. i also get bad reception in my work building and in my house.
my fiancee has nextel and gets reception on his el-cheapo phone at home...i'm assuming whenever our calls drop, it's my fault. whenever i get an important call, i have to stand by a window and sometimes that even breaks up. and i dont have tmobile's cheapest phone either.
should i finangle my way out of the termination fee with TMobile and go with nextel?
will they let me carry my number over?
i hate nextel, but my fiancee's service has been proven to me to work, so it should work for me too....

Screw T-Mobile, seriously, they suck. I don't have a cell phone but when I do get one I'll probably go with Nextel or Cingular.

how can you say that they suck when you don't even have a cell phone. you have no foundation to support your claim.
vdub - ive had t-mobile since they were voicestream. i was having the same problem as you because my sim card was old and so was my phone. i called t-mobile to update my phone and also had them send me a new sim card and that took care of the problem.
nextel is not worth the money unless you really really need the direct connect...other than that their plans suck.
verizon is ok but i dont like the phones they have and its harder to upgrade your phone(with cingular and tmobile you can get 'unlocked' phones so your choices are greater)
cingular is ok but it all depends on where you live

My phone
<-------------
I use Verizon, have the E815, hell of a phone when you hack it. Verizon has the best "service", so if you want service go with them. If you want cool phones, pick someone else ) Although, I think my phone is pretty cool, all my friends envy me as I always have the latest and greatest and can beat anyone in a ringtone battle )

If t-mobile won't let you out of your contract, or fix your problem, stick with them a little bit longer. The company is up for sale right now, so a better company with better coverage area might buy them out.. in which case you would get a new phone and plan.

well, i pay $45 w/tax for 600 minutes, unlimited nights/weekends with Tmobile.
Nextel in my area is $55/mo for 1000 minutes plus direct connect (which i would refuse to use because i HATE it so much), plus unlimited nights/weekends.
so there's not much comparison there.
also, i have a brand new tmobile phone and my sim card is maybe 2 years old. so that shouldnt be the problem.
i heard verizon in my area isn't good. and cingular doesn't have a big coverage area around here. heard sprint also sucks. the reason i "picked" nextel is because my fiancee uses it, and i use his phone in our apartment because mine doesnt work. if his phone works in the apt, it should work in my office....
and who can answer my question about carrying over phone numbers? they made it possible now by law.....do some companies refuse still?
also, when will tmobile be sold? if it's years from now, it's not worth it to wait to see if they perform better.

vdub...you should be able to switch your number to just about anyone...and sprint does really suck...but they may get better in the future cuz of the merge with nextel
is your phone the sony T610..cuz that phone has horrible reception indoors

I have nextel, but I can't blame most ppl for not...I happen to live in an area where nextel's coverage is better than verizons. personally I hate two way too...works like shit most of the time, so I just always end up calling everyone.

Verizon rules, I have a v710 and I love it! I get free internet through proxies (only uses minutes, no internet charge). I also can use my phone to browse the internet on my laptop anywhere wirelessly (also uses just minutes). I can play vids, mp3s, etc. Its great!

Hey man, do you keep up with Howard Forums? If you keep up with everything they I probably don't need to tell you about the Seem edits and hacks/etc. Also, you should go with the e815, much better than the v710 ) Basically a much needed update to it.

Yeah, I deff keep up with howardforums. I just got the v710 a few months ago, the only real difference with the e815 is the Obex profile. Which I could care less about. I currently have the Telus firmware to support java games )

If you don't get reception with T-mobile, they should let you out of your contract and avoid the ETF. Then, you can port your number to whomever else.

it's getting so bad that i can receive 10 calls and some voicemails and never get indication that anyone called me (no ring even) or that i have voicemails. apparently this happened last night while my fiancee was away on business and wasn't happy that i didnt pickup.
another question. let's say i want to get out of my tmobile contract (my fiancee suggested telling them that i'm moving for my job and/or my work is now going to provide me with a cellphone). should i secure a NEW service/phone with my current phone number before i cancel tmobile, or should i cancel first and then do the new service? i ask because i want to ensure i keep my current phone number.
has anyone been able to cancel their service and bypassed the early termination fee? how did you do it?
Ethan

Whatever you do, don't cancel T-Mobile first
I'd say pick who you're going with and let them help you.

yes i concur i too have had t-mobile since they were voicestream my sim card even says it still i can say they dont have the best reception but that is only in certain areas cuz at my old spot i used to have ful bars here i only have about half. customer service is cool they you can usually get em to take care of you with a little persistence. I also have a cingular phone cingular is cool but they pimp you on the 1st bill 200.00 worth of prorating=pimping that sux cuz my 1st bill was like 375.00 and i only have 3 phones and 2 plans the plans add up to under 150+tax should be around 175.I loe t-mobile and i am loyal but rollover owns the whole cell phone market, if tmobile had rollover they would bitch slap the competition.
[quote2e844cb60f="gregcool"] and can beat anyone in a ringtone battle )[/quote2e844cb60f]
i woud own you ina ringtone battle, where i come from im the ringtone king, i got whole f-ing songs on my nokia 6260(symbian o.s. kicks ass)

update i called Tmobile last night and complained. they are offering me a new phone (even though my phone has never been dropped nor touched by water). if this doesn't solve the problems of BAD service, they may allow me to cancel. i dont believe that a new phone will help, since mine is a year old and in perfect condition and i used to get good service... so we'll see.

they are sending me the same phone. the lady was very pleasant and i expected to be told to buzz off...she even willingly mentioned cancelling if the new phone doesnt work....i was surprised. they're a great company, too bad their reception isn't better.
she looked at my home area and said that i should have top reception...but i dont. she also said that i should be charging my phone when it's turned off (never heard of such a thing) and that could make reception better (???). she couldn't explain the other problems i've been having. i also told her how my fiancee uses tmobile for his work and he drops calls outside...he hates the service/phone. he has no problems with his nextel, which i made sure to tell the tmoblie lady.
we'll see how it goes with the new phone. if all else fails, i may go to verizon or nextel (and maybe onto my fiancee's plan since he's the only one who calls me lol)
