GTA gets new rating - Adults Only

Personally I agree with the decision. Trying to pass off the mod as being done by "hackers" and not their own people was ridiculous.

but what was the rating before it was changed?

im not sure how they work here, but in the UK we have the highest rating as 18, where you have to be 18 to play the game or watch the film etc......18 over there is considered adult.

most 15,16,17,18 year olds these days know alot more and are more intelligent than most people give them credit for. its not like they dont know about sex, or violence etc.

so it seems like its only making it harder for even younger kids to play it or get it, but people should be able to tell the difference between an 18 years old and a 12 year old....surely?

You would think, but the majority of the clerks behind the counter selling the games could care less about the age of the person buying them. I don't have the exact stats, but I believe around 50% of kids under 18 could buy a rated "M" game.

they should make it more specific though!

i mean who is to say that a 25 year old is more "m for mature" than a 16 year old? just cos someone is older, doesnt make them more mature.

why dont they just put ages on it, then only people of a certain age can purchase, view, rent etc.

so whats the highest rating for video games? i know for movies its "R" right?

i bought san andreas when I was 15 without a parent, the clerk didnt give a shit that I was buying it and was under 18 heheheeh

AO is the highest rateing for a video game.

Uhm...rating of M is for people 17 and over

And this rating change won't do anything. The only difference is now some stores will get more money for having the balls to sell an AO game.

ehh there is not difference between AO and M. i got id'd when i went to buy half-life 2 (M). big deal if there is sex. it doesnt even show anything.
