Does anyone have the Bose SoundDock? Questions

Welp I am looking for a speaker system to replace my CD player, I took a look at some of the smaller ones up at Best Buy, hooked my Ipod up to them. Then the guy came over and was like check this out though, and blasted the Bose SoundDock, I was wondering if anyone had it and what they thought of it.

How did it sound to you? I think it looks like shit but that's just my opinion and I've never had one before. I just think $300 is a little expensive for it. I'd much rather buy a different stereo.

He let it blast in the middle of the store and it sounded great, i mean its bose you can't go wrong. but just wanted to see what any of the people of FIG have it. I like it because it charges the ipod at the same time.

Seriously if you are going to spend that much go get the Promedia Ultra 5.1 or the Gigaworks S700 and use those instead, you will love it a lot more, not to mention it works for computer D

Exactly. Bose sucks. They're expensive because they spend a lot of money to convince you that they're good, not because they put in a lot of time doing research and testing.

For $300, you can get a Z-5500 surround set or a klipsche set if this is for home. Otherwise, I bet the JBL ones aren't too bad for half the price of the sound dock.

I bought the JBL On Stage for my gf.. she loves it. Its pretty powerful and sounds good to me. Not bad for 100 bucks or whatever it was.

Computer speakers aren't the same as a one piece boombox unit, go with something like the JBL that isn't rediculously expensive and is still a one piece unit.

But make sure whatever unit you get fits ipod+mini+photo so you'll know it'll probably fit future ipods as long as their design only changes in width.

I've never been to an apple store but I bet they have display models there if you are close enough to one to go listen.

bose doesn't sound horrible, and it's a lot better than some stuff i've heard. but the sounddock is ugly. get something that's similarly priced and less ugly.
