Well, in the brag bag topic there began a discussion about getting a digital camera off freedigitalcameras and then bringing it back to CompUSA because they allow store credit and such. I'm about to receive my camera in an hour or so and I was wondering if anyone knew the policy a little better?

On their website it say you can bring it back without receipt if it's new looking and in the original box, however, for a $500 camera I don't know if they'll get all, "let me call head quarters about this"...

One of my good friends does. He's overheard me trying to return my iPod to the Mac store, so he knows the deal. He's a stickler for the rules but if you get to any store and receive resistance just talk to a manager. They /always/ bend over backwards to accomodate a customer and will likely return it for you.

I had a buddy that worked there that I'm no longer in contact with. Sorry I can't help w/ that. Honestly, it can't hurt to try it. You're not doing anything illegal and the worst they can say to you is "no"

What should I say though? Would they except it if I told them that it was originally bought at another store? I was going to go with the fact that a relative in Florida bought it for me, but I already had a digicam and this is why I don't have a receipt.

I worked there a few years ago, but it really kind of is your mileage may vary from store to store. We had some lady come in the tried to return a HD that was clearly very used. No receipt, open box, I don't even think the drive matched the box, but our store manager took it back because she wisely chose to come in when the store was packed.

compUSA is a nice store as long as you arent an AOL n00b douche
who doesnt know shit about the product you want. They have all the latest electronics there in stock and when they ask if you need help its
usually because they want to get you to buy something NOT because they suspect you of stealing roll its a common thing in retail to ask as many customers as possible if they need help not just a COOMPusa thing specifically.... roll

btw if you're gonna try the store credit thing DONT AUTOMATICALLY make up some bullshit story. Just say "Id like to exchange this"
compusa wont get all suspicious as long as the item looks unopened
and you arent asking for money.

at compusa with NO luck. THe fucking BITCH at customer service sucks..
