this thread is/was aimed more at the people of gearlive who read/commented the thread and thought that FIPG HAD been hacked, even after it was explained that it was a joke, and the site was only having DNS issues at the moment.

if there is anyone who read that whole thread and who still believes that FIPG WAS hacked, then they may actually be a little bit dim.

Ha this is all so much more funny because when i first heard about the fake hack, i thought it was hilarious. When i was reading through the posts i was laughing out loud, and i never thought there was going to be a huge controversy over it. Some of those Gearlive people think that this whole thing was a big prank to make Gearlive look bad.

Unfortunately, this aftermath is going to last for quite a while.

The site is actually called "Gear Live". If you think any Gear Live people are stupid, then essentially you are referring to myself, the CEO of Gear Live Media, or possibly one of the editors. Those are the only "Gear Live people" that are in existence.

For the FIPG people - I don't get what the issue is. No, joke or not, it isn't funny to slander a company name because you think it is cute. If you can't see that, then you really are immature.

Secondly, I own Gear Live Media, LLC. Have I [i7faeeb724c]EVER[/i7faeeb724c] made ANY negative comment about your site? Even once? In history? Didn't think so. Why? Because quite frankly, FIPG, a website and community dedicated to "free stuff" sites, has nothing to do with Gear Live, a GADGET and TECH BLOG. The fact that we have reported on these sites in the past is the extent of our similarities.

Can you explain where the "beef" that one of you were talking about even comes from? You own a site, and I own a small network of sites. You have never spoken to me. I have never spoken to you. How does that equate to some sort of rivalry? For anyone who thinks there is one, do me a favor. Grow up.

if i owned liGear Liveli, and FIPG made a claim that it had been hacked by us, i wouldnt give a shit.......if they hacked it and said it wasnt a joke and continued to say it was hacked by gearlive, then i would have an issue with it.

I don't there has ever been a rivalry between GL and FIPG but more a few former FIPG members who went to GL after violating FIPG terms. I severley doubt that Andrew has ever said anything negative about FIPG but I don't recall anyone pointing a finger at Andrew directly either. My 2 cents, or at least a half cent.

JV - no prob. And yeah, I can even agree with you.

Theysay - Gear Live is my job, not some part-time hobby. That being the case, I try my best to make it the best I can since I use it to not only pay the bills, but provide for my wife and baby. That said, if a potential advertiser or client does a search for Gear Live on say, Google, and something comes up saying that Gear Live is responsible for a site being hacked (and thusly, me - Andru Edwards - being responsible for a site being hacked), that wouldn't look too good in their eyes. In turn, it can damage our reputation, and in the end, my bottom line. I fail to see why I should be so lax about it. Especially when I did nothing to provoke it in the first place.

Just because people HERE know that it was just a joke, some random person visiting this site, or pulling up a search result might not. What's more, even though it might be removed from here, someone could have visited, saw it, and posted it to THEIR website because they thought it was real. That would mean even though it is gone, it is still searchable elsewhere.
