Xbox360 = PC?

My friend is trying to tell me that an Xbox360 will be more powerful than the latest PC. Why then are we not shelling out 2500$ for an xbox 360 unit? Can someone help me find proof that this isnt true?

think about it. 3 Dual Core Processors, which are just now coming out(dual core that is). Problem is, there is no point in having that as a pc because there is no software to adapt to it, so you wouldn't see much of a difference from a pc. There is more to it, but I don't have time for all that D

Are you kidding? PC gaming is far better. You can mod your PC to $7000-8000 if you really wanted to..

how are they honestly going to be putting THREE dual core cpus in a system when a dual core pc cpu costs nearly 1000$? it dosent sound legit to me.

i was under the impression that thats what they are putting in the xbox also ?

wtf? if this is so why dont we just spend 400 on xbox360s and mod them to be pcs? i mean i dont like the fact that i spend 500$ on my video card to have my friend tell me that his 400$ xbox 360 has better graphics. Its not logical.

yea microsoft and sony take major hits from consoles!! its a given fact. they are losing money on the current consoles. but they make it back in games. because for every game sold the console maker gets a piece of the pie even if they didn't make the game (such as how microsoft makes halo and makes money. ubisoft makes splinter cell and microsoft makes money)

so either way it comes down to games, cuz the consoles don't make them ANY money

No, the PS3 has one Core, "The Cell", but has 7 "SPE"s in it. In turn the PS3 can run 8 threads at the same time, but the 360 can run 6. PS3 = 2 Teraflops, 360 = 1 Teraflop. whole trick is getting people to program games for them

It's really not that much about graphics anymore, it's about the games and if they're actually fun to play.

There have been many stories on tv and in periodicals about how much money microsoft has really lost on the systems alone. It is pretty astonishing how much they lose on each console sold, but I dont remember how much they've said. Stupid? I'm sure they know what they're doing. roll

Well in the long run, Microsoft has made tons of $$$ from xbox.

Yes yes they have....Software once it is written is cheap to produce and at 50 or 60 bucks a pop it doesn't take long to be making bank, and they can basically give away the hardware as long as people buy the games, which you know they will do.

heh....not many pc mobos, microsoft gets custom mobos with grafix chip built in...etc

An xbox 360 is a dumbed down, limited, retarted and inexpensive pc in a hard candy shell.
There is no comparing to a computer
