Right now, I drive a piece of crap. A pontiac 6000, it was my husband's. I don't even remember what year it is probably something like a 1980. Before that I had a wonderful, nice car - a 1998 chevy lumina. Leather seats, moonroof, moderate power. It was the most beautiful shade of dark blue. Well my husband (fiance at that time) borrowed the car and actually ended up crashing it because he fell asleep at the wheel. He went to the hospital for a gash on his head, and judging by the way my car was wrecked he was blessed to be alive.

So since then I've been driving his old piece of crap car, while he got a manual honda civic that he seems to love. I've put up with it for long enough D and want to get a quality car. Here is what I'm looking at

Possible new car [=http//autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=185271107&dealer_id=2318132&car_year=1995&make=HONDA&distance=10&lang=&max_price=5000&model=&end_year=2006&min_price=1&certified=&address=19403&search_type=used&advanced=&isp=y&start_year=1986&cardist=0]Possible new car

I really want to stick with Honda because of it's reliability. I've been looking at reviews of the 95 accord and they are excellent. Thoughts?

Yeah I know. There were other reasons at the time that made us come to the decision that he should get the "new" car. I don't remember what they are though. Probably because his car was the best deal we could find, due to it being a manual.

Black is a hard color to keep clean and scratch free plus it gets really hot in the summer time (duh). Thats alot of miles but not THAT Much. if had good upkeep then i think its a good price with the spoiler and alloys with 4 doors and automatic. Honda civics and accords can run for double that millage and then some. But if you dont need anemities, then dont pay for them. Keep looking

Estimated Time 36 minutes

We're neighbors.

I'll buy it first and then sell it to you at a higher price.

You alreday knew that p

Anyhoo, unfortunately the husband and I can't afford too much right now. Probably not above the $5K range because we'd have to work out an affordable monthly payment and all.

The first car I used to learn to drive was an 86' Pontiac 6000, so I feel your pain ) No A/C (in FL), no power steering, took an hour for it to respond to the gas, etc.

Am planning to buy a used car too. I am ready to shell around 17 k but want a BMW not more than 3-4 yrs old. A 3 series will do. So I started looking at Auto Auctions and found this nice place 30 mins from where I live www.njstateauto.com

You might wanna consider auctions too. But yeah - its a gamble. I might start a new topic asking ppl's opinion abt it..

VW's are great when nothing is wrong with them

i've owned 2 ('98 GTI 2.0, '98 Jetta VR6) over the past 4 years and they both have been absolutely great!

my wife bought her '99 New Beetle from an auction (through a dealer we know personally) and it's been perfect. she paid only $8,300 2 years ago

right now some people are selling '99 and '00 New Beetles with the same mileage for around $10k

Damn - i wish I knew a dealer like that.. any Idea how I could find one.. am willing to pay the person a couple of hundred bucks just for coming along and letting me choose a good beamer.
