This is cool!
if you dont already have it id suggest getting. it makes pages load quicker (duh). i only just installed it but ive noticed an instant difference.
it runs as an external program but can be controlled through your browser also.
it also tells you at the top of your browser how much time you saved loading certain pages.

· Google Web Accelerator sends requests for web pages, except for secure web pages (HTTPS), to Google, which logs these requests. Some web pages may embed personal information in these page requests.
· Google receives and temporarily caches cookie data that your computer sends with webpage requests in order to improve performance.
· In order to speed up delivery of content, Google Web Accelerator may retrieve webpage content that you did not request, and store it in your Google Web Accelerator cache.
To learn more, read our Google Web Accelerator Privacy Policy (http//webaccelerator.google.com/privacy).
So they're gonna log all the pr0n sites I go to? Dang.

Be careful with that. Google accelerates your web acces by caching every site you visit on a google server near you (there's millions). However in doing so, it catches any and all info that you enter, including passwords, emails, credit cards, phone numbers and etc. Thus at any given time, a google admin can easily view your information, and possibly if requested by government be used against you, with full proof because everything you've said has been stored. Just a friendly warning...

There's a bug in the application. You see google caches the pages that other people visit ... if someone visits a passworded page such as a forum with a password or other things that aren't HTTPS, it may cache those pages and other people can view them. Just because google has released some pretty neat software, we shouldn't simply trust them with our privacy.
Also, it's designed ONLY for broadband. They specifically said no dial-up users allowed, its meant to speed up broadband connections only.

That doesn't clear the cache that's stored on the google servers though.

i know, but its just the same as Gmail....that does the same thing, maybe not passwords and such, but maybe even more personal info.
i know there are people who dont use any google services because of their privacy policy, but i havent heard anyone on here complain about it.
why now?

Gmail only scans your email messages when you open them for keywords to show relevant ads. They dont store that info on a server though (aside from the actual email servers). Major thing with the accelerator is that it stores the info, which can cause bugs like someone previously said, or can be used against you.
Besides, if you got broadband and you need a web accelerator, then you're being jipped P Almost all webpages, including those with some decent sized pics in them, load in under 5 seconds. More simple webpages load in < 2 seconds for me.

well see my problem is that i view a lot of sites with pictures and photographs (big file sizes), and those can sometimes take a while to load up.....on those kinda sites ive noticed a big difference, which probably where i would use it most.

Sacrificing about 20 extra seconds but not having the possibility of having your personal information exposed... well it's your call.

Yeah, this thing sounds awesome but having all of your info on google servers doesn't sound so good. I'll download this once I hear that it's more trustable.
