What are your thoughts on these concerts and the fundraising effort in general? The only US concert is going to be held in Philly, so that's really cool. I would go simply because it's such a historic event but I'm already booked for a family reunion this weekend. Plus even though it's free, the parkway will be an absolute zoo. A free concert that anyone can just wander up to. The newscasts are thinking that quite a few concert goers won't bother looking for a porta-potty and will just go in the street. Not really the atmosphere I'd enjoy myself in. Here's the Philly lineup

# Alicia Keys
# Black Eyed Peas -
# Bon Jovi -
# Dave Matthews Band -
# Def Leppard
# Destiny's Child
# Jars of Clay --------
# Jay-Z
# Josh Groban -
# Kaiser Chiefs
# Keith Urban
# Linkin Park -
# Maroon 5
# P. Diddy
# Rob Thomas -
# Sarah McLachlan
# Stevie Wonder -
# Toby Keith
# Will Smith -

But look at the London lineup
# Annie Lennox
# Bob Geldof
# Coldplay ---
# Dido
# Elton John -
# Joss Stone -
# Keane -
# The Killers -
# Madonna -
# Mariah Carey
# Ms. Dynamite
# Paul McCartney --
# Pink Floyd ---
# Razorlight
# R.E.M. -
# Robbie Williams
# Scissor Sisters
# Snoop Dogg
# Snow Patrol
# Stereophonics
# Sting -
# Travis
# U2 ---
# UB40
# Velvet Revolver -
# The Who -
# Youssou N’Dour

I put dashes by the acts I would actually want to see.

Too much traffic for me. It's also a bunch of dumbass bands. At least the other one had good bands. I saw the Live Aid clip from 1985 when Queen was there and my god, Queen was the shit. Every damn person in that crowd knew every word he was singing. It was amazing.

Yeah and SEPTA will be jammed so tight, you might as well just camp somewhere nearby... I'm sure many are ;)

Only person I have any interest in seeing is Stevie Wonder...

I'd rather see the classics then these bunch of fruit cakes. Supposed to be raising money and they'll be up there rapping about bitches and 40s. That and their "lovely lady lumps"... roll

Where are they holding it? Near the sport's complex?

It will be on the Art Museum steps, covering the whole Ben Franklin parkway.

I mean, freaking Pink Floyd in London. You'd think that the US concert would have the pull to get the best acts.

EDIT Oh and yes that's the other thing - even though this is a funds awareness event, each performer is getting a "gift bag" worth $12,000. That could few a few people in Africa, I think roll

I know, the london one has so many good bands compared to the US

You know all the teenie bopper corn balls will be there to see Destiny's Child and Will Smith. Then the dirty ass hippies will be there to see Dave Matthews and any country singer. So I guess for with the people they had to choose from, this was the best place to throw all those losers.

I wonder if they will sweep off all the hobos that are usually crowding the museum steps.

That guy is too fuckin depressing. Stop bitching and whining like a woman (no offense Godrockdj).

Godrockdj

01-07-2005 20:34:59

Yeah the hobos will be swept off and everything will be glossed over ;) Also, since it's a free concert the whole thing is quite a security risk. It's been deemed a no fly zone but there's no security or checks on the ground at all. The whole world will be watching - great time to make a statment, eh? If I don't respond tomorrow consider me blown up LOL

Maybe Jay-z and Toby Keith will do a duet?

Or how about Snoop Dogg and REM? Shiny happy people holding a joint?

It's really a shame how bad the U.S. lineup is. The U.K. show doesn't look too bad, though. The fact that Roger Waters and David Gilmour are going to be on the same stage makes it completely worth watching.

People that I think are worth a damn
Stevie Wonder
Coldplay
Elton John
Paul McCartney
Pink Floyd
R.E.M.
U2

What does being gay have to do with his music? Or anything for that matter

Some of the best ones I saw were...

Pink Floyd
U2
Stevie Wonder
Elton John
Paul Mccartney
Madonna oops

Surprising ones...

Green Day (We Are The Champions)
Jay-z/Linkin Park
Black Eyed Pees (Get Up, Stand Up)

Shitty ones...

Good Charlette
Shakira
Destinys Child
Kayne West

Atleast those are the ones I saw that I had an opinion on...

Pink Floyd made the entire show completely worth it. However, I'd like to thank MTV for talking during their last 3 minutes and ruining the entire performance. They did the same thing to Stevie Wonder (and everyone else). George Michaels coming out was pretty cool, too. It's just a shame that this concert didn't mean shit to the 8 greedy bastards who could make a difference.

I meant to give you guys a heads up before hand.

I live right on the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philly.
I was pretty excited when I heard about the concert...
not for the music, but for the money-making opportunity.

Last week I purchased 1000 bottles of Deer Park spring water for $200.
I spent all day today with two other people I "hired" and sold 800 of them for $1 - $2 a piece.

Needless to say I made some serious

yeah it was a good day for music.

although the fact that the broadcast was sponsored by AOL and Microsoft was a bit fuckin ironic if you ask me (which you didnt).

im sure those 2 companies could help out world poverty a bit no?

I hope they show (over here) some of the protests and the walk and the concerts and shit going on in Edinburgh next week.

so you giving that money to help fight world poverty wood?
