Q for those who advertise "free" stuff on ebay

as the subject says.......................

i used to advertise my stuff on ebay with the ref link right in the ad, which is "illegal" within ebay's rules.

if i SELL the information (SELL = put a bid price on it of like 1 cent, dont put my ref link in the ad, and promise to deliver the info on end of auction) is that legit?

i'm asking because
1) i've been suspended from ebay previously for posting ads with the ref link in them and i dont want to get banned from ebay forever because of it; i value my 210 points on ebay too much to give it up

2) i just wrote up an ad to SELL the info, and ebay gave me a warning box that says my ad may be violating ebay's guidelines by "The listing may not offer information on how to buy or get specific items for free outside of eBay."

have any of you SOLD your ref links (instead of putting it right in the ad)??? have you been reprimanded by ebay for it? any advice?

(i plan on giving the ref link and how-to away after the auction ends, rather than collecting 1 cent for it, but i cant state that in the auction)

Haven't people tried that already? I thought I used to see it a lot, but I'm sure ebay will not allow it. I wouldn't risk a 210+ account doing that...

Not allowed.

Suppose you're doing for free ipods. Then, ebay will cancel your auction since your listing will contain "iPod" and you won't be selling an ipod. They have some sort of keyword spamming or rule like that.

Or, you could use "Get free stuff" as your e-bay auction title, put it in the infirmation section but that's pointless isn't it.

i think what you said connects to what i said in #2. in the dummy auction i did today, my title was "Louis Vuitton purse for free-let me show you how" and in the ad i put how the winner of the auction would receive information on how to get the LV purse for free. i think by putting those things in there, it triggered their red flag, which is why they told me the above quote.

lisighli too bad.....it's an actual way to get the refs free...instead of paying shipping here and there for "free" trials of diet pills......

I've done the ebay thing only once
http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5783815319

I'm not sure what's going to happen though because people actually bid... So i'll have to pay final value fees unless i file a non-paying bidder thing, we'll see how that goes. I did get like 12 yellows though

Selling "information" about this stuff on ebay is illegal also.

i think the word they look for is FREE.

if you've got that anywhere in your description it will probably flag it.

I tried it w/ overstock.com auctions...I just had my auctions canceled b/c someone bid up to 150 b/c they didn't read and then reported it, but I did get like 28 yellows on freephotoipods.com....If even 1 fourth of those go green i'll be sitting good for 17 cents ) ) ) )

If you put free [b626b1325ba]shipping[/b626b1325ba], maybe it won't be flagged.

i also think that when a user has been suspended, like i was, they watch those accounts more closely.

at least someone told me he got an email from an actual person at ebay that said "dont put free shit on ebay, we're watching you."

2 things

use www.tinyurl.com for your ref links, they'll catch any type of free site link

choose whatever starting price you want, but make sure the shipping fee is at least $500.00+, that way no one will bid

why won't you creat a website... it works 100% better then ebay...
i was posting my ref on ebay, was banned from ebay 8 times (got only 3 greens and 8 yellow)

From a website i got 10 greens and 50 yellows within one week!

justin do you still use ebay? do you post your ref link in it still or do you "sell" the info?

pete what sort of website? cant be geocities or tripod, as those aren't allowed at work, where i do 95% of my free stuff. i tried a Xanga blog, but that didnt get me any yellows even.

well i had geocities, work but f not as with real domain
buy urself domain name, host ... creat a website, put ur ref under ur website... and there you go.... it will take you 3 days of work.
good luck

but just like you have to advertise your ref link, you'd have to advertise your website somewhere.....

i have no experience with websites except a blog...but it sounds like a good idea.

Wife does a lot of ebay auctions and at the bottom of each one she writes, "I got a free iPod Shuffle, you can too check here" and it sends them to a site I built. I have gotten 4 greens and 8 yellows off it for all my other sites (since I completed the schuffle, I do not know if I got any for that one).

It is not as effect as someways but it works (slowly).

Never a warning.

When I get home I will post a link to one of Wife's auctions.

I tried what geej did for the photo ipod with freeminimacs. I got a warning from another user, saying he'd reported me to ebay. I think he was just being an ass. I closed it down and I only got 1 yellow. I didn't put free anywhere in the title, and I used tinurl. It might be worth trying again until ebay actually says something to me.

I had ebay shut down an auction on me before but not before I got a couple greens off it. When they shut me down I think I got a credit for the listing fee too! It worked out )
