Thats a brown recluse spider bite, as you can see by the title of the picture. The bit causes tissue necrosis (tissue death). Course of treatment, antibiotics and just letting it run its course. The damage usually stops after a few months leaving a deep scare. Or in this case, possible removel of the digit. Poor guy.

That's weird... it's like he let it become a problem. There's treatment for that if you catch it fast enough.... Still pretty gross. I have a bunch of brown recluse in my house. We have glue traps laid out and it's crazy to see how many of those spiders get stuck to them, yet still everyonce and a while I see one crawl up my wall while I'm on the computer or something. Not really a problem unless you scare them. I'm afraid I'm going to roll over onto one sometime and freak it out into attacking me.

FYI the best way to know if it's a brown recluse when you see one is the violin on the back. It's kind of hard to see in that picture. Good god I just googled brown recluse and there's all sorts of pictures like that. Blegh! Anyways the body of the violin starts from the spiders neck and goes to midback, then it thins out into the neck of the violin.

I'm used to seeing brown recluse but that close up sent chills down my spine. Something about being able to see those eyes in the violin really gets me.

The worst thing about it is that there's NO way to exterminate them. You can only lay down traps and hope to get most of them.

This topic inspired me to check the glue trap at work. It was mostly full of rolly pollies but there were a few baby brown recluse as well as one giant one about the size of a quarter. I started looking at it and then it started freaking out... it wasn't dead. We started staring each other down and he eventually won and broke me but in my defense he had more eyes. Then I folded the glue board over and said goodbye, but not before getting my hair caught in the trap next to him. It's so much better living in ignorance on these things.

I was feeling my hair and something weird was in it. I pulled it out and I saw a brown recluse, I started freaking out and I screamed and it jumped on to my face and bit my eye and then crawled down into my throat and it bit my throat. I tried choking it out but it just went down into my lungs. I don't know what to do because it's biting my lungs and moving around everywhere in there. I'm gonna die...
