Ok, so I never thought highly of the posting your link on an ebay auction, but decided to try it since I had nothing to lose. So I put up one for freeipodshuffle, and the auction ended, I told the winner ($135, idiots) not to pay me, and that was all. I hadnt checked my account status the whole period of the auction, but I just looked at my account, and found 2 out of the 3 needed greens (along with about 20 yellows, so one of those might also go green). I never thought that I would get any greens from the ebay trick, but two-thirds of them? Wow...Does this always happen or did I just get lucky?

Why wouldn't you take the $135? Most people word it as a "coupon for a free ipod shuffle." I mean, its kind of wrong, but is that your only reasoning?

see...now how did you get to put your link in there?

i couldnt get mine in to save my life!

[quote1aab54ce6b="theysayjump"]see...now how did you get to put your link in there?

no it just wasnt possible.....i mean yeah they said you're not allowed, but even when i tried, it just kept saying something like "you may have violated the TOS, please review and change where needed" or whatever.......and yeah i wouldnt take someones money from them for something they didnt have to pay for....you wouldnt want someone doing that to you so why would you wanna do that to someone else?

Your taking a HUGE risk! If ebay find outs what you did..... you're fucked..... Think about it. If some ebay rep stumbles along your auction not only could they ban you from ebay they will probably report your link for spamming which would get you put on permenant hold for ALL gratis site which would totally fuck up all your gratis trades. Its not worth the risk....... you got lucky this time but id quit while i was ahead if i were you

What if you made a nice auction, telling people to email you about it? I was thinking about posting the link to the article, then telling them to contact me for more information and guidance.

Have you "eBaited" before? If you were warned for a TOS violation in the past, they flag your account and give you a warning [i423bdcad2f]before[/i423bdcad2f] you list, so you can't plead ignorance.

When i did this, i made the auction require preapproved buyers. That way, they have to email you before they bid on an auction for nothing.

you just got lucky. i got 12 yellows on that (freeipodshuffles) when it first came out... thats it. no greens.

it sucks.

I've done this multiple times on ebay. Yes it works, but they've cracked down on it a lot lately...don't risk it.

They give you a warning, and take your auction down, when they find it. Then they will ban you from eBay, if you do it again.

But yes...it does work, if you're willing to risk your eBay account for a green or two.

[b638c3e6338] Listing of Item Denied [/b638c3e6338][/size638c3e6338]

so does ebay recognize the www.free___.com urls and mark them as a TOS violation?

theysayjump

20-06-2005 17:27:26

i think some people get round it by linking to a different site that has their ref link on it....maybe you're right geej86

i just switched my ref link with a redirect url, still denied. wtf...

I had this problem. but i can't remember how i solved it. ( Try not saying DO NOT BID, or saying freeipod. Check what other people are doing and copy it.
