I think i remember reading that when i was a kid. I don't remember it being that great though. As for the best book ever, my vote probably goes to "A Clockwork Orange."

I liked that book. It always made me sad though. I need to go up in my parents attick and fish out all my childrens books and make sure they are protected better. You can't purchase memories like that.

thats very true slease....if you do that i think you will appreciate it when you're older, and you have something to look back on and its in decent condition.

i cried so hard as a little kid at the Velveteen Rabbit.....and that made me not like the book. but i know it's a good one.

best book?
Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder.
If you like philosophy, it's a must-read.

I came in here thinking I was going to find "The Littlest Elve", but I guess the "Velveteen Rabit" is an OK book as well... No really, the "Velveteen Rabbit" is the only book that has ever made me cry. What a thoughtless, selfish little boy leaving his best friend out in the cold.

I remember loving The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe when I was younger. Now that the movie is coming out, I'll have to see if I can dig up a copy.

Most Overrated Book Ever? Catch22. I tried rereading it recently, and man, I just could not get through it.

CS Lewis books are fabulous. i took a course on him one summer in college.....great course, but hard to read one book a day. lol

Ender's Game is better than all of those!

Now I've read all 8 books in that series and I'd have to say Ender's Game is by far not the best of Orson Scott Card's Ender books. The best plot comes from the Speaker of the Dead trilogy.

If you don't understand the brilliance of Catch-22, you're f'ing stupid.

Eh, not everyone likes every novel, even if it's brilliant.

I did not prefer Catch-22 but loved other books that people hated like Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". "A Seperate Peace" by John Knowles is also well acclaimed but I thought the book was drawn out too much. I also couldn't get into the much loved "On The Road" by Jack Keruouaoucack ;-)

To each their own and be careful who you call stupid.

I totally loved "On the Road" a little slow yes, ground breaking today no, I just got the feeling that Keruouaoucack lived it and retold it perfectly. But what do I know?

anyone read The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks?

wow that is a good book.....i dunno if it would be hard to find here or not since its a Scottish book and it wasnt hugely popular over there (it has more of a cult following).

anyway, next time you're at a library see if they have it.....i dont think you will be disappointed D
