Anyone ever add the ethernet card to their Tivo receiver, so you are able to obtain guide data over broadband. I did it a few weeks ago, and it is pretty awesome. It's not too hard to do, and it allows the ability to do so much more with it (especially if you have coding abilities and are familiar w/ linux) Anyway, I just thought I'd see if there were a lot of people out there doing this or not.

I use ethernet to connect, it's the only option if you don't have have a landline telephone. I'm about to ditch my tivo for a cable DVR with dual tuner HDTV support. Tivo was too slow to respond to the demand for this so they are losing me as a customer. I'll miss all the blings and dings though.

Yeah...definately can't blame you there, but for me I don't need to worry about HDTV anytime soon since I'm simply a poorly college student psyched at all about even having a tivo receiver w/ lifetime subscription.

Yeah, I'm a poor college student with a huge Credit Card debt, lol. I have a job now though and because of flight school I won't be able to at the beginning of Aug so I'm buying all the tech I need for a year right now. =)

LOL that's good...Yeah I don't really have any debt other than my Yukon which I get to make payments on, so I don't have any toys to play with ( Oh well I just keep thinking that someday I will get rich and then I can have anything I want )

i use my TiVo with broadband, but i used a USB/Ethernet adapter, not an installed card - works just fine

i like being able to schedule recordings at my house from anywhere on earth, and it's also nice not having to use a landline

TiVoToGo is handy, but i hardly ever use it
