My friend decided to turn a Choking Victim song all the way up on my iPod today, and now my earbuds are making a rattling noise, and Im fucking pissed about it.

Anyway, what are the best earbuds for the iPod? I'm not looking to go over $40-45 US.

Thanks guys,
Chris

The E2C and E3C (over your price) have been decently rated. My friends own the sonys on amazon (~$30) and like it. Its really up to you wink

For your price range the Sony EX71's are perfect compared to Apple earbud quality these are 10 times better.

Alright, I'll look into them, thanks.

I'm not really anal as far as sound quality, but I'm sure those are better. THe stock ones dont sound THAT bad.

Thanks Null.

I can't find the E2c's for that low.. I might just get the EX71s, or if anyone has any better suggestions )

Those are your best bet. Just an F.Y.I. the length of the cable on the headphones are very short, but it includes an extender. There are also 3 sizes of earbuds included in the package.

make sure you do a 24 hour play on your earbuds at full volume when you get them to warm them in. they'll sound better after that.

also, the extender for the ex71s is rediculously long if you want to put the ipod in your pocket. you might consider getting one of those earphone cord wraps as well. or just use the ipod remote with the short cord.

Is the regular cord without the extender enough to fit in your pocket?

I don't get why people spend so much money on earbuds...

I have the Sony EX71's, Shure e2cs, and Etymotic ER-6is.

Sony EX71[=http//www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000092YQW/qid=1117770751/sr=8-2/ref=pd_csp_2/102-3474472-4256122?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846]Sony EX71
Highs are a bit distorted, however, these things have a huge ass bass sound. Good for rap, hip hop, songs with lots of bass. Sound quality is okay.

Shure e2c's[=http//www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000CE1UO/qid=1117771104/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3474472-4256122?v=glance&s=electronics&n=541966]Shure e2c's
If you get these, always use the foam fittings. The plastic ones hurt like hell, or maybe it's just because my ear canals aren't that big. Sound quality is good.. a lot better than the EX71's, but the bass isn't as great. The wire is very thick and durable, but the earbuds are huge and a bit awkward because they wrap around your ear and go behind your neck.

Etymotic ER-6i's[=http//www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002ZW5W4/qid=1117771123/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-3474472-4256122?v=glance&s=electronics&n=1065836]Etymotic ER-6i's
These are the ones to have. I found the triple-flanged tips very durable and comfortable. The wiring feels a bit fragile, but it should last. Sound quality is exceptional. Sound isolating design works very well; I am unable to hear cars zooming by while walking, so use with caution. These are only around $90 or so right now and I highly recommend them. Plus they're white and match the iPod very nicely.

I thought it was just my ears that didn't fit the plastic buds.

Hmm, do I get any kind of warranty through buying through a private seller on Amazon? I might be interested in these, though the "behind the neck" thing sounds a little weird.

EX71's regular cord won't go down to your waist. And just like the E2's the cord is made to go behind the neck.

I personally just use streetstyle headphones unless I'm trying to block out the world.

EX71's come with a 1m extension cable, but it's a bit long. The EX71's cord is nothing like the e2c.

I just want basic, good sound quality earbuds. I don't need anything that wraps around my neck and goes up my ass and gives me an orgasm.

Just something basic, heh.

The EX71s would work for you then.

I was just saying, the cord is designed to go around the back of your neck. the right ear phone cord is 3 times as long as the left from the point where they split off. you can't wear them like the apple earbuds and have them be comfortable.

So, does the EX71 cord go long enough without the extender to fit in my pocket?

I'm 6'1", so yeah, I doubt it, based on the picture (thanks Slease, ++KMA)

Maybe I'll look into some other ones. Koss or the Apple-In-Ear buds.

Stay away from Koss ones. Crap. I've heard mixed reviews about the Apple ones, some with high praise and some that don't like the sound.

Koss is mostly crap, yeah.

I used to have e2c's; got them from freegiftplanet. I just gave them to my ex-gf whose giant over the ear muffs I stepped on. I grabbed some etymotic er6i's from buy.com for $71.99+tax, shipped (they're $81.99; there's a $10 off $75 coupon somewhere out there). Really awesome deal. I'm listening to them now and it's pretty good, but they're not broken in yet.

Mainly I'm impressed right now with the presentation. They come in this tiny little package with only the stuff you absolutely need. The buds themselves are white, to match the iPod (which is cool, I guess... I don't really care). The "pillow" case is really nice, black neoprene and nice and small. But the phones themselves are really awesome. They fit tightly with the flanged tips (could never get the e2c's to fit without hurting with the plastic tips, just like you guys...). They are amazingly light. Like, honestly, I am still surprised at how light they are. The cord is nice and thin, too. Don't let anyone tell you that smaller diameter wire has a negligible effect on earbud sound, either. They also fit easier, tighter, and more comfortably than the e2c.

I don't mean to bash the e2c's. I had them for months and I still think that they're fantastic phones. I actually prefer their over-the-ear cord placement. Bass response could be better but it's really not bad.

But I'm pretty darn happy with these etymotics.
