Since we've had a major incident here at FIPG with CC40 (and another smaller one with darkancient) of people starting a lot of trades and not keeping their end up, maybe we should instate a trade flood control of sorts.

So, depending on the TR of the person or some other criteria, only a certain trades are allowed where the person has to do his part to complete the trade. The new ones will remain pending and not be active until then.

That way old trades have to be finished before making new trades.

Would that be easy to do in the trade module?

What do you think of my idea?

On a side note, would it be possible to add some coloring to the trade module table? Like green and yellow for whatever and maybe blue for complete?

Good idea, not sure how well it would work. What do you think the limits would be ?

Hmm, I don't know. That's be tricky though. Maybe 2 for TR < 2, And, 4 for TR < 20 and then 8 after that.

I'm thinking of the lower estimate as well and maybe more steps and all. What do you think?

Well, it could be done automatically by the trade module. No human interventin required.

I think it could possibly work. However, we'd have to have someone in charge of monitoring it/in charge, in case a trader has a special circumstance and needs to contact a mod to ask about it.

I dont register 1/2 my trades, what makes you think they do, especially with a limit imposed on them

Well, you could get rid of the GTL. The trade module works better anyways.

Yeah, that's true. But, it'd be great to see some sort of stats on a member's trade module.

Maybe how many pending trades and maybe now many were started recently. That way people can't make a big heist at the end and disappear. Even if someone scams, it will be at most a few and not half the board.

That way no-one will see scamming as any good coz' the most they could get is a few greens or so.

I have a lot of pending trades from people that never log on after they make the trade and never go green. i can't delete them because it takes both parties to delete it. that would have to be taken into account. i don't want 8 inactive trades to make it so i can't trade at all.

I am not sure I like it, but I definitely understand the reasoning.

Forcing people to use the trade module will help the mods, thats a good thing. But forcing the mods to police the trades could be overloading...

It seems like forum improvement ideas are pooring in... The scripter might be a bit busy for a while. Time for more donations.

Slease, I had the same problem, COmpFreak took care of them... shoot hm a PM

I don't necessarily want them deleted. I like having them for a reference so if the person reappears in a month and says "I'm green" I can look him up and be like, you haven't been online since we made the trade so here's a cookie." I just think whatever script is made needs to only apply to active trades somehow.

No 8 where you have to do something I meant - send payment or do an offer.

If it's the other person who has to do something then it's not counted.
