WARNING: To all those who completed AOL recently

I received in yesterdays mail a letter from AOL...I immediately assumed it was a confirmation of cancellation, and nearly shredded it. However, I looked at it again and it said CONFIRMATION OF CONTINUATION OF SERVICE (or something like that). I open it up and its a letter saying that they are happy I have decided to keep AOL or some shit. I had already called to cancel about a week earlier, and even had the cancellation number!! Turns out the cancellation number was actually my account number minus a "0" in front of it...shady business. Anyway, there was a cancellation form on the back with an address to send it to. Could be a way for them to charge people who gave phony addresses (which I'm sure no one on these forums would have done).


Moral of the story Don't toss your AOL junkmail before you take a glance at what it is.

It's an apple crumb cake - lol - I have seen that commercial WAYY to many times.

And AOL, my parents got all pissed off because we used to have them and they charged us for like 3 months that we didn't use, and now I refuse to even think about doing an AOL offer.

$23.90/month for WORSE internet than what Netscape ($9.99/month) offers...so sad that people think that America Online is really protecting them...

Last year, I signed up for a trial offer and canceled within 2 weeks. While on the phone, the guy said that he would extend the period and cancel my account. Just this week, I get a call from AOL saying I owe them $59 for the months that the AOL person extended. I was SOOOO MADDDD. I curse AOL...FOREVER. And now, my parents are gonna kill me for using their credit card.

You shouldn't be using your parents' credit card without their permission. That said...call AOL and ask to speak with billing...don't get off the phone until you get a refund/chargeback/credit to your account.

aol charged me twice after i cancelled it and i fought with the
now if a phone call from my number/adress comes up, they wont answer or they wont let me sign up or something like that

all of that happened to me too. i used one of those free trial cds, then i canceled the first week because the service was absolutely horrible, at times i got booted off as soon as i logged on... anyway, after i canceled and got the cancellation number, the jackasses were still billing me months later.

And AOL thinks there all special because they made this "special" spam blocker. Everyone has friggin spam blockers nowadays! I hate that commercial where that guy poors the "spam" on that guys food.

i totally pimp aol for there free trials.i ve done it numerous times and have never actually been billed.
