Okay so I want to get a truck. I don't like cars because I don't like driving low to the ground, and I'm into bmx so having a truck makes more sense for bikes etc.

But anyway I'm looking to get a Toyota Tacoma, because well asians are smart lol. Toyota's last that's why. But I'm wondering why do they make some with those little tires, and some with bigger ones? I like the ones with bigger ones, but they're always to expensive for me. So I guess I'm going to get one with smaller tires, then buy new ones. How much do tires cost? My first car so forgive my ignorance.

How much are you willing to spend?

I'd always suggest American trucks over Japanese trucks.

And are you sure you want a truck and not an SUV (Could also carry bikes)?

I would have to agree, Japanese cars are only good for fuel economy and reliability. American cars are all about power.

I'm not exaggerating, 75% of the cars I've seen pull over on freeway's being Fords. So dunno about american...but I can only spend like $8,000 so yeah not much to work with. And well I thought about an SUV but the interior will get totally fucked...

You should probably get used then at that price

Well, if you plan on using it like a truck (Hauling things and such) get an American. If it's just a daily driver I guess you could get a toyota or nissan. You should be able to get a decent truck thats about 6 years old for that price.

I agree.

some japanese cards have cheaper things (cheap things = you have to spend lots of money)

Well I was already going for used cars. I'm no rich kid, I'm paying for the vehicle myself anyway ? and me being 16 I don't have that much money

8k is a lot more than i had for my first car. My first was a 1980 F150 that i got for $600. My freinds and i beat the shit out it, but it never died.

Yikes, hope it at least had a heater in MN. Those winters are cold. I remember my dad used to have an early 80's F150. He used it for construction work and by the late 80's that thing never worked. Trucks are a lot nicer now.

I see a lot of trucks with little wheels like this for example

But I want it like this

[img="5b7d343da9]http//images.autotrader.com/images/2005/4/3/180/593/1368225131.180593145.IM1.MAIN.565x421_A.562x421.jpg[" alt=""/img5b7d343da9]

I know they're different years, but you get what I'm saying.

You're buying a used car, just make sure you get one with the larger wheels. It'll cost you too much of your budget to upgrade them.

Peinecone

30-05-2005 21:35:33

I think the differance you are looking at is 2 wheel drive compared to 4X4. It will make a big differance in price.

I've seen 2x4 with the larger wheels

Those wheels are just covers vs. alloys, I don't know much about toyotas, so I'm not sure which come on which model, but imo alloys look better and you don't have to worry about upgrading unless you're really set on bigger or shinier wheels.

Whatever you do, avoid the 94-98 Chevy S10, I have one and so does a friend of mine, and we've had nothing but problems. The engine is quite underpowered and gets horrible gas mileage, and both of us have had to replace countless parts (he's dropped over a grand into it over the last three months, and it's still crappy).

If you get a larger truck, I'd say go with American, they've been around longer. The Nissan Titan is pretty kick ass, but new, so pricey, so an American one would be affordable. As for a small truck, either would be good, they've both been around for a while, so you could afford either (I'm partial to imports, but just my opinion). Anyway, I'm in the market for a new car too, so good luck.

This liprobablyli isn't the best forum to find out about trucks.

I know if I was going to buy something I knew absolutely nothing about, I'd want to talk to some serious experts.

Now if you want to know how to get an accessory for your new truck for free...well then, you have come to the right place P

I know...just looking for some opinions.

And as far as roll-over rate, I thought SUV's did...like the Blazer for example.
