Anyone ever buy Absinthe off of the internet?

I have been thinking about buying a bottle for about 50.00 shipped but was wondering what the chances are of it being stopped at customs. Anyone had experience buying this?

I've heard a lot of radio people who have had no problems with buying the stuff online. I even think a guy by uncle works with bought some with no problem. Don't forget to visit the board when you are out of your mind from drinking it! -)

I found this site which looks pretty good. Haven't checked out shipping prices yet but the bottle prices aren't bad.

Woh shipping to the US is outrageous... buying one bottle is out of the questin at the prices. Maybe I'll just have my mom bring some back from germany, she's going in a week.

Friend of mine bought his for $200-300 for a couple bottles shipped from the place to his doorstep. I'll get back to you on the other info.

absinthe is illegal in the us and i wouldnt risk possible arrest for bringing it through customs in an airport.

sending it through customs with the mail may work because you can put "wine" on the box/customs form. but if you put "absinthe" it won't go through. i'm willing to bet on it.

check the local head shops in your area.....some may sell it under the counter. there's one near where i live that is rumored to sell it. i dont know how you'd get on the "inside" though and get someone to admit they sell it and then sell it to you, all the time trusting you're not a cop.

First of all....Absinthe is only illegal to import and distribute in the USA, it is LEGAL to consume personally. (kinda a loophole in the law)

actually..... the only person that would get in trouble would be the shipper. and since he/she would be from out of the USA. No worries.

Ive ordered from www.absinthe24.net the guy that runs is lives in Germany, and is always on AIM to talk and workout deals. I think he is the best absinthe store avail. because his stuff is ALREADY IN THE USA. He ownes a warehouse in michigan or something. So when you order its just going from warehouse to your door. No customs...etc.

i got a big ass bottle of chezh Absinthe with ~35+mg of Thujin (active ingrediant in wormwood 25mmg is the legal limit for absinthe but "specialty absinthe's" can have more) and an Absinthe Spoon, with 3 day shipping for 77$ i beleive.

Wormwood can be lethal when not distilled properly in alcohol.

plus those home-brew absinthe kits suck....half the point of buying real absinthe is to get the REAL ABSINTHE experiance. Plus the alcohol content is just through the fuckin roof.

Its a way different buzz, its hard to explan but...here it goes



After only 2 or 3 "shots" (mixed properly.... 11 water/absinthe and added sugar) you start to almost immediatly feel that dizzy drunk feeling.

After a few min (probably 15-20) you start noticing colors seem more vivid.

RARELY ive heard of people seeing things that wernt there, not hardcore trippy type stuff though.

Thats about it......me and 4 buddies have tried 4 or 5 diff. types of absinthe (Hill, TRUL, and a few french brands) All except the cheapest bottle gave us the same results. (cheap-o bottle just got us drunk)

Lunar - I spoke to Andy a while back and something happened with his guy in Michigan that he had to temporarily jack up the prices. He has since brought them back down, and sent me an email talking about some new changes (I can forward it to you if you'd like). Anyway...since you're all so worried about it - he now guarantees delivery (against seizure, breakage, etc.).

Absinthe is NOT meant to be drank unmixed. it It is mixed 11 with ice cold water, then sugar is added.

the Traditional absinthe is served very specially ...heres how

l1)get a empty glass, and an absinthe spoon , absinthe, and sugar cubes
2) lay spoon over top of glass
3) lay sugar cubes ontop of spoon
4) pour a shot or two of absinthe over the cubes, letting the absinthe run into glass
5) light the cubes on fire, and wait untill he cubes start the bubble (carmelization)
6) quickly dump the cubesinto the glass and add ice water
7) ENJOY!

i bought 3 bottles of absinthe over the summer when i was in europe in the airport in prauge carried them onto the airplane. security stopped and asked what was in the baggy they were in, so i took them out lady looked at the bottle and handed it back to me. i know have 2 bottles sitting in my room. i drank one with a bunch of freinds. i think i bought a total of 5 bottles drank 2 over summer brought 3 home. 2 left.

its not expensive at all if u buy it over in europe. its like 20-30$ depending on size and where u get it

yeah....they dont give two shits. Just means more paperwork. Plus if it was prauge security Absinthe is perfectly legal there anyways, and for all they know you could be flying to another place its legal in aswell.

I think the main hallucinogen is wormwood,but these new brands of absinthe dont really have that much in them.I think that its technically still illegal in the us,so your shipment may go thru or it might get seized by customs.there are tons of sites on the web devoted to absinthe.from what i've read,you start off feeling really mentally focused and then the buzz starts since absinthe is usually made with high proof liquor. 8)

i bought 5 bottles in total. 2 the first day i got there that last almost the whole time 3-4 shots each got everyone pretty messed up. than on way home i bought 3 more bottles for later. i know that was kinda confusing. 5 bottles in total 3 are at my house 1 is empty

its the kind sold in czech republic "Hills" is the brand it is. i dont think im going to sell it, this stuff is great and i cant realy get more if i were to run out. if was going to go overseas again this summer i would glady sell you it and i would probabaly buy 10-15 bottles over there and sell them. there are about 20-30$ there and i can probabaly get 50$ easily from most people. so thats a lot of profit.

you definatly do NOT trip out ....not even on the 299$ bottles that have over 100mg of wormwood in them....and spare wormwood sitting in the bottom of the bottle. Most ive ever seen was vivid colors, and a crazy fun drunk feeling.

ABSINTHE is NOT like how its portrayed in movies....AKA EuroTrip (and that johnny Depp movie , was it from hell? i forget.)

by the way, there are like 40 different kinds of absinthe from the czech republic. Hills ive heard is blander then most absinthe's ...as in not as much black liquerish flavor.

it also has a lower thujin (wormwood) content i beleive.

i would think so, i would hope they think all alcohol is potentially dangerous. Wormwood has psycadellic effects (in high doses.....way higher then that found in absinthe). I personally think its on the controlled list.

The fact that YOU didn't trip out on absinthe doesn't mean that everyone in the world who tries it is going to experience the exact same buzz as you. You've done a lot of drugs - do you describe the buzz/high the same as everyone else you've ever talked to? I doubt it.
