Should I get it?

Well I got my $250 today from phreepsps.... I'm just wondering if I should buy one or not. Do you think I should? I'm not much of a gamer(well I play xbox a little). I want it for movies and stuff but the memory sticks are so frickin expensive. Should I get one? I like it's capabilities for wireless play and all...... But what else is special about it. I heard they'll come out with an update for internet and email. That I would like. But other than internet and movies I don't really see what's so good about it. So what's your say about this?

Yeah, no games = PVP, but I know you have an iPod. IF I were you, I'd go with the PSP, I love mine and play it every day. I'm not much of a gamer either.

Use the money on something else.
Since you're not a gamer, the other functions hardly make it worth $250.

I tried a psp for the first time this weekend at the sony store. I thought the movie quality was amazing. The widescreen is perfect for movies. Before, I wasn't sure I was going to keep mine (if gratis ships it...) but now I definitely will. You should be able to fit about 4-5 mpeg4 movies on a 1gb memory stick ($99).

You can already use it for the internet with the wipeout pure hack too.

I got mine from freepsps.com and sold it for $250 + $50 s/h on ebay last week

Total profit $288

I know 100 other things I'd rather spend $288 on.

I agree with that. But if you think there is even the slightest chance you might use it for games then get the PSP and get a game that you think might interest you. Or a gamefly account so you can try a few out.

I agree with wood. I went out and bought the PSP from bestbuy, I played around with it and connected it in my network and stuff and was entertained for a while. But I had this sinking feeling inside that told me what else I could do with $250. So I decided to take it back. I guess I'll just save the money for something else.

Personally I have a PSP and hardly use it. I'd recommend putting it in your bank account and saving.

In light of the fact that you're not much of a gamer, I say the money is best spent on something else. If you already have an iPod, a PVP would serve you well.

Well said. I think a PVP is a great idea. That's basically what I wanted the PSP for anyway. And props to all of you who suggested this to me above. lol

Oh, I forgot to mention. At the end of the summer Nyko will come out with the movie player for ipods (you have an ipod right?). You just put your ipod into the contraption, and voila, a PVP. I read that it will cost $250.

I was thinking about buying it but I might just stick with the PSP. Might just be better to buy a pvp outright but don't know the video quality of those things.

That can't be very portable or attractive. That sounds like carrying around a TranspodFM attached to your ipod.

Go for the Archos AV420. I think it's $450, but unlike Portable Media Centers which run a Microsoft OS, these are independent (Archos), meaningnot as much media protection. You can record off of TV (think like a TiVo with a screen ) with an AV420.

pvps4free still is running. it was dvrs4free that shut down. it's 10 refs to get one there.

archos is a great brand i agree. they are coming out with a new model with a 7" screen that should retail around 600.00 if you want to wait for it.

I would be amazed if the AV700 retailed for $600. It's got a frickin' 100GB HD, and the AV420 has a 20GB for $450. Seems a bit imbalanced.

Archos AV700 = 7" screen. Hotness. 100GB Hard Drive and TV/DVD/Computer to PVP recording. Hotness squared.

600 was the estimate for the 40gb model. Engadget predicted that and they said the 100gb would be around 800.
