I dont understand why someone would pay more on eBay where they could get fucked and just go to a store? Sounds kinda correct, doesnt it?

trick is on ebay you make the price good and shipping kinda high. i sold a psp for 240$ and i charged 14$ shipping so after real shipping cost i realy got around 245$. make shipping more than needed to cover yourself.

How about actually charging what shipping costs +a couple bucks for packaging and trouble. $14 for a psp??? I skip auctions like that, thats the first thing I look for.

Same here. I skip most auctions where shipping is $8+. I ESPECIALLY skip auctions with that eBay shipping calculator because it is SOO OVERPRICED. $11 to get something shipped to you via USPS Priority (Flat Fee)? I think not. eBay really needs to fix those rate calculators.

[quote9d1e9d3d1b="kutibah"]eBay really needs to fix those rate calculators.[/quote9d1e9d3d1b]

I don' think it's eBay. I think the seller just puts in a weight much higher than the package actually is to increase shipping charges.

kutibah

12-05-2005 20:15:49

I've seen ALL auctions using the calculator with similar rates.

slease

12-05-2005 20:21:33

i believe the calculator is just a USPS web app. there would be little benefit to ebay to inflate that cost.

They must have been high.

The ebay shipping calculator is completely accurate.

The reason prices are high is because they allow the seller to tack on any "handling" fees he or she likes. So even though the postage is only, say, $3.85, the seller can charge "handling" of $8, and ebay shows "priority flat rate $11.85". Yeah, it's misleading. No, you can't do anything about it except find another auction.

Fact is, it's sensible business-wise to inflate shipping cost for several reasons
- More appealing auction in the auction list
- Many bidders do not read the auction fully or read shipping information
- eBay does not charge fees on the shipping cost, only the auction's selling price. So the more you charge for shipping, the less you pay in eBay fees. It seems like a tiny amount, but the typical powerseller's margin is absolutely tiny and things like this make a real difference.

they would see that you purchased the item w/ store credit and just refund you in the form of store credit again. pretty much no store, regardless of what they sell, will give you cash back w/ out a receipt.

Just return it for store credit and buy something you actually want.
