Ok, guys, need an opinion )
What antivirus software would you recommend?
I've used Nod32 before - I liked it, but ..
Moved to BitDefender - not my favorite program, especially when it started screwing up my system - it wanted a reboot "to finish an important upgrade" every hour or so..
So I'm on the market for a new anti-virus system. What would you recommend?

kaspersky all the way!
i used to use norton but then wisened up and then could never remove it from my computer
then i used mcafee which was ok but lacked quite alot.
then onto panda which i thought was amazing till i read a review of the top 55 AV programs and at the top was kaspersky (it found something like 99.5% of the virus' on a test computer).
so i switched to kaspersky, it found quite a bit that panda missed and ive never had a problem since. it always tells me when theres a virus/trojan etc on the web page im looking at and asks me what i wanna do.
i really dont think id change form kaspersky to another, but you never know.

I use AVG Free Edition from Grisoft because it's free. I've never had a problem with viruses. If it ever finds one, it cleans it up quick.

Any experience with "Avira Desktop"?
Pretty much it's AVG or Kaspersky, but not sure which one

You're right lol )
I installed Symantec Corporate Edition yesterday (free from my college), but they provided version 8, which is ... well not very compatible with SP2's security center. Plus, I really hate Symantec products)
Theysayjump - how much memory does Kaspersky use typically?

at the moment i have 1GB, and its using 18 MB to run......so its not a memory hog like some apps can be.

Avast is the best, and it's free. You can make its can at startup which can be extremely helpful when a virus won't delete.

just to give you an idea Phbs83....i scanned my computer with kaspersky and it scanned 271,695 files in just under 50 minutes........dunno if thats fast or slow but it will give you an idea as to how thorough it is and how fast it is.

I'm voting for other, becaue i like AVG.
Grisoft's AVG is one of the best anti-virus programs out there. They have a free version and an inexpensive professional version. The free one is just as effective as PRO, but doesn't have some of the handy features. I've scanned my system with norton before, and then uninstalled and used AVG, and AVG picked up something that norton didn't.
Anyway, before you guys pay to upgrade your AV or pay for another year of definition access (or pirate wink), try out AVG.
