I'd assume it would, I mean - who knows where the links came from - but its clear that someone at blockbuster created the plan upgrades (whether or not they had "permission" to or not, who knows). Even if they "fix" it - I doubt they'd roll back the changes if the plan upgrade has any legitimate use (promotional or otherwise).

Not to be a downer, but the only other time I've ever experienced something like this was on Amazon. Occasionally they'll list a price that's obviously wrong, I remember a 7 dvd robert deniro collection one time being listed for nine dollars. I bought it, but they say that pricing errors are not something that they have to honor, and they cancel all orders that were placed for the error price. I imagine Blockbusters reaction could be quite similar when/if they discover their error.

I'm not sure why you said "not to be a downer," since you're "That guy" - but oh well. Anyhow, you're right in that online retailers normally will not honor pricing errors, but what you don't realize is that these promotions had to be created for them to work. I think it is would be nearly impossible for blockbuster to police who is was intended to use the link(s), and who was not. It's their fault for creating the promotion - the worst that'll happen is blockbuster will cancel the memberships (or roll them back to their state prior to the "downgrade")

A simple pricing error is different than a bait and switch type manuever, which is illegal.

Everyone check your blockbuster accounts, mine used to say until 5/12/2006. Now it says until 7/12/2005.. just me ? or same for everyone..

man i had the best plan. if this offer was still live. i was going to message all my referals on psps and tell them if they do the blockbuster offer i will tell them how to make the 1 month at 9.99$ to a 1 year membership. this would be a great deal for both parties. i would get a referal complete they would save a lot of money on movie rentals. they get 2 free rentlas in store each month and even if they only get 3 online each month thats 62 rentals thats like 180$ in the store or 170$ for online membership for that time 10$ for first month and 14.99$ for next months. thats if movies were 3$ i know they are around 3-5$ range not sure i i havent gone to blockbuster in years i use hollywood video

Interesting. My "Next billing date" is July 12. But if you click on "Change" next to your online membership terms, it says that my Current plan is 1 year FREE 3 at a time - $0.00 for 1 month(s) plus applicable tax

And my Next Plan Type will be 3 at a time - $14.99 for 1 month(s) plus applicable tax

But that the Next Effective Plan Date is 05/12/2006

This seems to indicate that the free 3 at a time deal does indeed last for a year, at which time it will switch over to 14.99 a month. The Billing Date of July 12 may just be the date that a bill for $0.00 will be issued. Either way, 15 bucks is low enough to make it a gamble worth taking, you either pay and decide to cancel or really do get one year of free rentals.
