Boot into safe mode and run those programs again. Also make sure they are both up to date.

Yeah, hijack this is also good. Just don't go deleting things until you show someone who knows what they are doing a log.

I use webroot's SpySweeper 3.something....
www.webroot.com

seems like a good find...startup/memory/cookie shields keep your computer from being infected in the first place, and the full scan is very comprensive with details for each piece of spyware found...

I also have SpySweeper in addition to Ad-Aware and Spybot. I know the SpywareDoctor is also very good.

It kinda "dumbs down" Windows so you can troubleshoot. Alot of drivers dont load.. It doesnt run some system files.. Stuff like that.

There's no silver bullet program to get rid of all spyware. You need a constellation of programs to really get the job done. I use

Adaware
Spyware Doctor
Spybot Search and Destroy

Also, most programs rely on "reference files" against which they test files on your hard drive for spyware. It's really important to keep any program you use updated as much as you can manage. Otherwise, they'll slowly not work as well as the reference files become more and more out of date.

Same here, i got home from school and my computer had all this shit on it x . It says I have a trojan or something like that but my antivirus program wont open. I keep getting pop ups and other crap. It took me like 45 mins to start my computer. This really sucks

yeah definitely spybot search and destroy[/size7f982c1255]....also ad-aware[/size7f982c1255] but it hardly ever finds anything even when spybot does, at least on my computer.....i have also used spyware doctor[/size7f982c1255] wich was good, and i used microsoft anti-spyware[/size7f982c1255] when it was [b7f982c1255]giant anti spyware[/b7f982c1255]. before microsoft bought it, i thought giant was one of the best i had ever seen.

Scan Spyware 3.8 (I think is the current version) works well - although it's not free. I use that in conjunction with ad-aware and spybot S&D.

It loads the minimal amount of drivers in case something is messing your computer up. It also doesn't start any programs at start-up.

Microsoft Anti-Spyware is good if you get a lot of spyware. It stops it while it's trying to install...kind of like anti-virus protection. It's essentially the same thing as GDI's version. I keep that running on my family's computers while i'm at school, and they never have problems or have to spend a lot of time removing spyware.

If you're like me and don't get much spyware, it's better to just save your sytem resources and keep both ad-aware and spybot handy. If you notice anything fishy, just run them both (not at the same time). Each usually picks up something the other doesn't.

The best spyware protection over all is using Firefox though. I haven't had to run a spyware remover once since i switched over.

[quote533edaa799="dudeextrem2000"]i heard some where that spybot has spyware in it is that true or a rumor[/quote533edaa799]

i think its actually the fact that it keeps backups of all the spyware it removes, incase you delete something and something else stops working......so other spyware programs may find it when you run a scan.

i could be wrong but thats what i think it is.
